TUARAN : Parti Warisan Tuaran Division Chief, Datuk Aliasgar Basri, has strongly refuted the baseless claim by former assemblyman Datuk James Ligunjang suggesting a collaboration between Warisan and UMNO in the coming state election, calling it a desperate attempt to mislead and frighten KDM voters.
“Let’s get the facts right — Warisan has no alliance or cooperation with UMNO. The state seats of Senallang and Sulabayan that James mentioned are being contested by Pakatan Harapan (PH), not Warisan. Everyone knows PH is UMNO’s partner in the Unity Government — not us,” Aliasgar stressed.
He said Ligunjang’s statement is a clear attempt to distort facts and create false perceptions among voters, as Warisan remains the only independent, Sabah-based party that stands against both GRS and the Federal coalition led by PH-UMNO.
“This is an old trick — when they run out of ideas and can’t show results, they resort to fear tactics. They want to convince voters that voting for Warisan is the same as voting for UMNO. That’s completely false. Warisan rejects subservience to Malaya’s politics.”
Aliasgar reiterated that Warisan remains steadfast in fighting for Sabah’s rights, including the 40% net revenue entitlement, the full implementation of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), and economic empowerment and job opportunities for local Sabahans.
“Warisan is not beholden to Kuala Lumpur. If there is any political cooperation after the election, it will only be with local-based Sabah parties that share our vision for a sovereign and prosperous Sabah,” he said.
He urged the people, especially KDM voters, not to fall for propaganda designed to divide and confuse Sabahans.
“Sabahans are politically aware. They know who truly stands for Sabah and who is only using fear and lies to stay in power.
“Warisan stands firm on the principle of Sabah for Sabah — not Sabah for Kuala Lumpur,” Aliasgar added.#~Borneo Herald™
