Opposition in Sabah has no co-ordination, says Gaibin

TUARAN: While opposition parties as well as the BN components are having spats on various issues as the general election nears, an opposition leader, is of the opinion that the Sabah opposition parties should now think seriously about forming a Joint Election Co-ordination Committee.
 
En. Gaibin Ransoi, the Party Keadilan Rakyat Deputy Chairman of the Tuaran division, has made this call based on the rationale that this would be the first step for the opposition parties to listen to one another, and co-ordinate the allocation of seats, and to strategise against the BN in the coming general election.

Taib: I have no secret bank account in Switzerland

Sarawak Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud has categorically denied allegations by the Bruno Manser Fund (BMF) that he has a bank account in Switzerland.

The long-serving chief minister made the denial in a personal statement in the state legislative assembly after Question Time this morning.

“Let me state categorically that I have no secret Swiss bank account, nor assets or investments of any description. None whatsoever.

Indonesia army members stab indigenous Papuan to death following his complaint

At least five members of the Indonesian national military killed an indigenous Papuan, Derek Adii on 14 May 2011 while he was boarding the Lalobar ship service, in Samabusa Nabire Port, West Papua. It is reported that the soldiers attacked and stabbed Mr. Adii to death after he had complained about the rough conduct by some TNI soldiers against women and children passengers. After the stabbing, Mr. Adii's body was thrown into the sea. The investigation in Nabire labeled the incident a self-defense encounter and claimed that the victim fell into the sea because he was drunk. The authorities held onto this claim despite numerous passengers giving eye-witness accounts of the incident.
