Illegal immigrants more than a quarter of Sabah population

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) reiterated its call to the state government to take serious action to resolve the illegal immigrant problem in the state.

SAPP vice president Don Chin said only positive action by the state government would be able to protect the rights of Sabahans and reinstate public security.

He said Sabah has the highest population of immigrants, including illegal immigrants, as compared to other states in Malaysia.

Stop giving IPPs easy money, govt told

Renegotiation of power purchasing agreements (PPAs) must be completed by Nov 30 this year or the country will continue to bleed money into independent power producers (IPP), the Association of Water and Energy Research Malaysia (AWER) said today.

Any delay in renegotiations between the government and IPPs would give the IPPs leverage to bulldoze exorbitant project bids to build new power plants on the excuse of lack of time, the NGO said.

KOTA KINABALU: Peninsular-based DAP is bullying local opposition Sabah Progressive party (SAPP) just like how they (including PKR) thumbed Sarawak Nasional Party (SNAP) in the runup to the polls on April 16, said United Borneo Front president Jeffrey Kitingan.

According to Jeffrey, DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang had started on a wrong footing in Sabah with his arrogant attitude and by pitting local (opposition) parties against each other.

Pairin can’t solve illegals problem with his committee

And Tan Sri Pairin’s appointment as head of the Sabah Committee on illegal immigrants is certainly case in which he got more than what he asked for. He had given the government until 2012 to solve the illegals problem, and now, as if to oversatisfy him, the government has given him the whip and said, “Now, it’s all yours.”

Jeffrey Kitingan was saying in statement here in response to what he said was “shocking” announcement by the secretary general of the Women, Family and Community Ministry, Datuk Dr. Noorul Ainur Mohd Nur that locals are outnumbered by the immigrant population in the Kinabatangan district, where there are 117,689 foreigners compared to 32,638 locals.

Norisah Ismail told FMT that two lieutenant colonels “barged” into her flat on Sept 11 without a search warrant, fired off confusing questions at her and warned her “not to behave” like PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
