GBM, a Coalition of Sabah Independent Candidates Launch Its Twin Patriotic Songs

KOTA KINABALU : Gabungan Bebas Merdeka (GBM) also known as coalition of independent candidates, a grouping of 26 independent candidates in Sabah, has launched its first twin patriotic songs today in conjunction with Merdeka Day and Sabah Day.

GBM's Youth or PERGAGAH Head, Brendon Beliku, launched the double songs, one in Malay and another in English, by softly releasing them onto Sabah social chat rooms starting on the eve of Sabah Day yesterday.

Brendon who is also GBM head for Keningau parliamentary area, said the two songs, "Sabah Bebas Merdeka" and "Rise Borneo Rise" were approved by GBM's executive committee only yesterday.

"There will be more good patriotic songs. Improvements or rearrangements can be done as we go throughout this journey..." said Brendon when releasing the songs.

Fresh from announcing its "twin goals or campaigns" on August 14, 2026, of 'Malaysia's PM from Sarawak' and 'Rotate PM post among Semenanjung, Sarawak and Sabah', GBM has now become a new talk of the town in Sabah.

Lyrics of both patriotic songs were written by Dr Kanul Gindol, GBM's chief ideologue, while its melody was arranged by Brendon himself.

Dr Kanul meanwhile said as GBM starts to gain traction with the public, he expected more inspiring songs would be composed and arranged, including in ethnic dialects and in various contemporary styles including a more joyful but meaningful and change-inspiring ones.#~Borneo Herald™
