Encouraging Response to GBM's Twin Proposals for Sarawakian PM and To Rotate the Post

An AI rendition of a possible Prime Minister of Malaysia from Sarawak, finally.

KOTA BELUD : A new political movement called Gabungan Bebas Merdeka (GBM) which was launched only 13 days ago in Tuaran is already a hit with ordinary Sabahans.

"Ordinary folks just love our twin political stands of: 'PM from Sarawak, and Rotate the PM Post Among Peninsular, Sarawak and Sabah'," claimed Dr Kanul Gindol, who currently heads GBM as its chairman and chief ideologue.

GBM, a solid coalition of independent candidates for 26 Sabah and Labuan Parliamentary seats, was launched by Dr Kanul and a group of GBM pioneers in Tuaran on August 14.

"In a quick random surveys held in Tuaran, Kota Belud, Kota Marudu and Sepanggar, we found out almost everyone agree to GBM's twin proposals to have a Malaysia's PM from Sarawak at this GE16, and to rotate the PM post among Malaya, Sarawak and Sabah every five or eight years," he said.

The former journalist-turned-politician said this when he met a group of "friends" from Putatan and Labuan who are in Kota Belud to declare their desire to help GBM.

Dr Kanul said GBM will focus only on winning 26 Sabah and Labuan seats, and would eventually work with whoever win Sarawak's 31 seats, and suitable partners from Peninsula to help realise its twin-proposals.

"We are not going to put up 222 independent candidates against our own friends in Sarawak, and likewise, we appeal to our Sarawak and Malaya friends not to put up proxies in Sabah. 

"We will help shape up a real Malaysia by finally having a Sarawakian as PM, and later a Sabahan PM in a fair rotation mechanism. I am sure all Malaysians will eventually support such political arrangement," he said adding that Sarawak is becoming more and more acceptable lately.

"While Sarawak leaders may not harbour strong desire yet to be PM of Malaysia, signals indicate that peoples in Johore, Selangor and even Pahang see positive perception on Sarawak capability and that they really admire Sarawak leaders in governing the Borneo state well.

Dr Kanul today also said one reason he had proposed the idea was that Sarawakians have proven themselves to be very progressive and successful in administering well their state, and that this is a way to shift the Federal focus to Sabah and Sarawak, as well as check and overcome rampant corruption in the Malaya-centric Federal Government.#~Borneo Herald™
