Three-corner in Batu Sapi, Sabah... straight fight in Galas, Kelantan...

By Ezra Haganez
SANDAKAN: It is a three-cornered tussle for the Parliamentary seat of Batu Sapi here. No independent candidates came to lodge nomination though many individuals took the papers from SPR earlier.

Ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) is trying to retain the seat through Linda Tsen, the widow of Batu Sapi late MP, Chong Ket Wah, of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS).

Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) President Yong Teck Lee, successfully lodged his paper, marking the end of his suspension from contesting an election by the High Court years back stemming from an election petition brought against him.

The third candidate is Ansari Abdullah representing  Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).

Polling day has been set on November 4, 2010, the same polling date with the Galas state seat in Gua Musang, Kelantan.

Galas sees a straight fight between BN and PAS.

Slightly more than 1,000 supporters turned up at the Sandakan Community Hall from 9am till noon today. Among those in the crowd were DPM Muhyiddin Yassin, PKR President Dr Wan Azizah Ismail, CM Musa Aman, Joseph Pairin Kitingan, and Hishammuddin Hussein.

No untoward incidence happened today though at times the three camps of supporters outside the hall were very boisterous with their battle cries.
