Armed Forces chief warns staff: It is treachery to expose votes cheating

In a bid to head off more revelations of votes cheating, Armed Forces chief General Zulkifeli Mohd Zin put on his fiercest face and warned that it was "treachery" for staff to blow the whistle on their bosses.

In a rare public statement issued on Thursday, Zulkifeli also rebuked "irresponsible parties" for implicating the armed forces and its personnel in corrupt voting procedures.

SINGAPORE: Employers in Singapore are shunning unskilled Sabahans and Sarawakians applying for work in the city-state mainly because they are causing problems in the republic.

Unrestrained drinking, frequent fightings in public places and other activities have been cited as the reason for the downturn in demand for workers from these two states.

Sodomy II: Doctor tells court he found Saiful’s anus healthy

KUALA LUMPUR: A doctor, the second defence witness in Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's sodomy trial, told the court on Tuesday that he had examined Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan on June 28, 2008 and found his anus healthy even though the plaintiff said he felt pain when passing motion.

Dr. Mohammad Osman Abdul Hamid was a medical officer in Pusat Rawatan Islam (PUSRAWI) at that time when Mohd Saiful came to the hospital complaining that he had a pain in his anus when passing motion.

11 struck by lightning

PETALING JAYA: Six foreigners were killed and five more injured when lightning struck them in two separate incidents.

In the first incident, three Indonesians died and and two were injured at about 2.45pm while working at a farm during a heavy storm in Sungai Choh near Kuala Kubu Baru.

The dead were Adik Rohmat, 28, Roni Dwi Jatmiko, 28, and Sugiran, 29, while the identities of the injured men, aged 25 and 40 years respectively, had yet to be ascertained.

DAP reveals another land shocker

(Free Malaysia Today) - Sarawak DAP today exposed another shocking allegation on the abuse of power and misappropriation of state assets by the state government.

This time it concerned the alienation of two parcels of state land totalling 16,025 acres to a daughter and a niece of Sarawak Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud at a cheap price.

One parcel of land with an acreage of 9,983 acres and the other with 6,142 acres at Sungai Anap between Bintulu and Kapit totalling 16,025 acres had been alienated to Ikrar Bumi Sdn Bhd at an alienation price of RM2.9 million, which was payable within five years.

Roughly, it is RM300 per acre.

KIRKUK, Iraq — Iraqi Muslim leaders have joined their Christian counterparts for prayers at a church in Kirkuk, in a public bid to ease tensions in the disputed northern city.

Around 1,500 people -- including Arabs, Kurds and Turkmen -- gathered at the Chaldean Cathedral late on Tuesday, singing Christian hymns before reciting prayers and verses from the Bible and the Koran.

"Christians and Muslims have gathered together here in Kirkuk, which has suffered from deadly violence that has scared us all in recent weeks," said Louis Sakho, Chaldean archbishop of Kirkuk, scene of deadly unrest last month.
