The court’s decision in allowing the first GE13 election petition, could pave way for an by-election, the second since the May 8, 13th general election.

The decision is likely to court protest by the opposition pact Pakatan Rakyat, whose election petitions so far have been dismissed with high costs.

PETALING JAYA: Housing and Local Government Minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan went on Twitter tirade against DAP MP Tony Pua today over reports that the former had defended Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali on the Malay bible-burning remark.

KOTA KINABALU: Bingkor assemblyman Jeffrey Kitingan told the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on illegal immigrants in Sabah that a National Registration Department (NRD) officer had shown him a list of some 60,000 foreigners who obtained Malaysian identity cards (ICs) in the 1990s.

Kitingan, a former detainee under the now defunct Internal Security Act (ISA), said he brought the matter up with his former political party, Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), and a police report was lodged by the party’s then secretary-general Radin Malleh.

South Tyroleans will be able to cast their votes on self-determination in an unofficial referendum next Autumn. The vote is currently being prepared by South Tyrolean Freedom, a party that strives for secession of South Tyrol from Italy. Citizens will be able to choose if they want to cast their votes directly in a ballot box or either through internet or SMS. An electronic system has been prepared so that votes are controlled and no one can vote twice.

The Star newspaper surprised MPs with a game of 20 Questions at the sidelines of the opening of the 13th Parliament recently. But they came up with their own surprises in their answers.

Give or take a few sen, many got close to the price of sugar, but how much people fork out to buy eggs, the most affordable source of protein for some households, was lost on many. Some gave their lack of time to shop as a reason: “I haven’t gone to the shops for some time” or “My husband/wife does the shopping.” And most looked sheepish for their ignorance, like PAS Kuala Terengganu MP Raja Kamarul Bahrin who apologetically added – after saying, “I’m not into groceries” – that it is important for MPs to be aware of the rakyat’s bread and butter issues and “know the prices of the basic essentials like cooking oil, rice ...”

KUALA LUMPUR: An alleged traffic offender died last week after he was arrested and manhandled by four police officers in Medan Imbi, Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo told a press conference today.

Gobind said the assault occurred at a restaurant and he had seen a video recording of it that was shot by a patron.

A report in China Press quoted police sources as saying that the victim, 53-year-old Chong Foo Ming, was foaming at the mouth after he was restrained and handcuffed. The report said police tried to flag him down after he had beaten a red light, but he sped off.

BOPIM to go to court if child conversion Bill is passed -- Jambun

KOTA KINABALU: The Borneo Plight in Malaysia Foundation (BOPIM) has decided to take the same stance as Gerakan that if the proposed amendment to Section 107(b) of the Administration of Islamic Law (Federal Territories) is passed, it will go to court to sue the Federal Government.

The amendments, hinging on the use of the word ‘parent’ instead of ‘parents’, makes it legal for a father or a mother, or guardian, who converts to Islam, to convert to Islam his or her children below the age of 18.

Menurut Pn. Sarina Abd Ganih, jenazah Allahyarham Mutalib MD akan disemadikan di Tanah Perkuburan Tabin-Silabukan dekat Lahad Datu pada pagi esok (Ahad, 30/06/13) jam 8.00pagi.

Sesungguhnya dengan pemergian beliau ke Rahmatullah pada hari ini telah menyaksikan hilangnya seorang pejuang negara yang sinonim dengan pendedahan 'IC-Palsu/RCI' di Malaysia dan sangat-sangat dirasai oleh keluarga dan sahabat-handai. Now in a few articles over the coming days, I will attempt to dissect and expose Idris Jala’s article for the rubbish that it is. I will start off now by tackling the first two issues that appear in his article.

They have to walk the tight rope twice a day and going home in the evening is even more dangerous.
