Pakatan will revamp education in Sabah, Sarawak

If elected Pakatan Rakyat has pledged to return power to
manage the education system to Sabah and Sarawak.
KOTA KINABALU: Promises are coming thick and fast from both the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) and the opposition Pakatan Rakyat in an attempt to woo the electorate in Sabah and Sarawak ahead of the 13th general election.

While the BN has opted for tried and tested but threadbare coat of incentives that have failed to deliver the goods in either state after close to 50 years since independence, the opposition coalition is committing to real change in both states.

Saya menuntut pemerintah agar segera membebaskan enam pemimpin Parti Sosialis, iaitu Ahli Parlimen Sungai Siput, Dr Michael Jeyakumar, M Sarasvathy, Choo Chon Kai, M Sugumaran, A Letchumanan dan R Saras Babu tanpa sebarang syarat. Sebelum ini alasan menahan enam yang terbabit dikatakan kerana terlibat dengan aktiviti subversif. Akan tetapi ternyata itu merupakan helah pemerintah untuk memburuk burukkan Bersih 2.0. semata-mata.

Selepas permohonan Habeas Corpus, alasan penahanan bertukar pula kepada terbabit merancang Perhimpunan Aman Bersih. Alasan yang berdolak dalik ini menjadi bukti penahanan 6 orang tersebut tidak berasas sama sekali.

Salleh to walk on Aug 13, says Ramadan a ‘non-issue’

KUCHING - Former PBB strongman Datuk Salleh Jafaruddin said today that he would participate in the MoCS ‘Walk for Democracy and Reforms’ slated for August 13 in Kuching.

“I will be there with my supporters. I also urge Sarawakians to turn up in support of MoCS’s agenda for change and urgent political reforms in the state,” he said.

Salleh, a cousin of Sarawak Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud, contested in the April 16 state election in Balingian under the auspices of MoCS.


Selangor records best financial result in 28 years

Selangor state assembly was told that the state government's revenue increased by RM200 million during the first six months of this year.

To a question by Sekinchan state assemblyman Ng Swee Lim, Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim (left) said that the state's cash reserve stood at RM918 million at the end of 2010, RM1,100 million at June 30, 2011.
