STAR Sabah: Bumburing Needs to be Clear on Sabah’s Status

STAR's Sabah Information Chief, Edward Linggu
“STAR Sabah welcomes Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Bumburing’s decision to resign as Tuaran Barisan Nasional chief and hopes that he will eventually leave the BN and take pro-active action to take on BN and fight for Sabah’s rights” stated Edward Linggu, Star Sabah Information Chief in a press statement released today.

We hope that Bumburing is sincere in his actions in leaving the BN and his departure is not due to other reasons as rumoured that he is leaving because he is not expected to be re-nominated to defend his Tuaran seat.  We also trust that he will also leave behind all his government posts to show his sincerity as the people will view with suspicion if he leaves one leg still inside the BN state government.

West Malaysian politics toying with Sabah

It’s common knowledge that Shafie dreams of becoming Sabah’s next chief minister and that Lajim who holds sway over westcoast Muslim in Sabah is an important ally for him. Rumours of Lajim quitting Umno began last year and was as quickly “settled” when another speculation broke that Shafie, who is Rural Development Minister, had appeased Lajim with a RM150 million road project.

WIKISABAH
It’s finally arrived, the official announcement that Sabah Barisan Nasional MPs Lajim Ukin and Wilfred Bumburing have quit the coalition.

Lajim, who announced his withdrawal in front of 500 people at Kampung Bukit Kallam on July 18, said: “I will sacrifice my RM20,000 monthly pay and perks as a minister for my struggle to uphold Sabah’s rights and fight corruption and cronyism.”

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah politics is all about hanging on to power and the latest postponement of the over-hyped “pullout” from the Barisan Nasional by two government MPs facing the axe in the coming general election stressed this.
United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko) deputy president and Tuaran MP Wilfred Bumburing and Umno supreme council member Lajim Ukin, who is MP for Beaufort, are looking at ways to defend their seats in a desperate political gamble.
They were scheduled to declare their resignation at functions in Tuaran and Beaufort yesterday in the presence of PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.

Bumburing, Lajim exit plan aborted again

Potential defectors Wilfred Bumburing and Lajim Ukin are
'playing tarik tali' with the BN leadership in view of
the current political scenario in Sabah.
KOTA KINABALU: Plans to enable Upko deputy president Wilfred Mojilip Bumburing and Umno warlord Lajim Ukin to announce their exit from Barisan Nasional have been aborted.

Senior PKR leaders and the organising officials of the gatherings on July 15 in Beaufort (for Lajim) and in Tuaran (for Bumburing) have confirmed that the planned jump by Bumburing and Lajim has been “suddenly aborted, or postponed”.

The development has heightened curiosity amongst observers.

Senior PKR leaders, who are disheartened by the turn of events, were given varied reasons for the cancellation of Bumburing’s formal announcement to ditch BN.

Sabah MPs to quit BN this week?

Will Upko's Wilfred Bumburing and Umno's Lajim Ukin
announce their exit from their respective
parties on July 15?
By Joseph Bingkasan of FMT
KOTA KINABALU: National coalition MPs Wilfred Bumburing and Lajim Ukin are expected to announce their pullout from their respective parties during gatherings in Tuaran and Beaufort, respectively on June 15.
PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim will be attending both functions where the two are expected to become “independent” MPs.
Bumburing who is Tuaran MP will make his much awaited announcement in Tuaran in the morning while in the afternoon Beaufort MP Lajim is to formalise his departure from the BN at his hometown in Beaufort.
Although both leaders would be declaring that they are leaving the government coalition parties in the presence of Anwar, they are not expected to join either PKR or other opposition Pakatan Rakyat component members.

Bumburing bidding his time, ‘still with Upko’

KOTA BELUD: If not for the heavy rains on Sunday, many Barisan Nasional leaders on either side of the South China Sea separating Sabah from the Peninsular Malaysia would have been squirming.

The reason for all that twitching and wincing was that had the weather permitted, Anwar Ibrahim, the de facto leader of PKR, would have been sitting side by side with a senior Sabah Barisan Nasional leader at a Harvest Festival celebration here.

June 10 ‘victory’ for Lajim-Anwar?

By Luke Rintod of FMT
KOTA KINABALU: Lajim Ukin, the influential Umno warlord in the south-interior of Sabah, is said to be “definitely” ditching the party to join not the Sabah People’s Front (SPF) as rumoured, but PKR.

Reliable insiders claimed that the Umno supreme council member and MP for Beaufort is preparing for a June 10 exit and that Pakatan Rakyat coalition de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim himself would fly to Sabah to receive not only Lajim but also scores of other Sabah Umno and United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation leaders.

Bumburing tidak dihormati di Kaamatan Tuaran?

Albert Polino kesal dengan AJK sambutan
Pesta Kaamatan daerah Tuaran yang kurang
pengetahuan dalam bidang protokol.
TUARAN: Benarkah Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Mojilip Bumburing tidak diberi penghormatan di Pesta Kaamatan peringkat Daerah Tuaran pada 10 Mei?

Seorang pemerhati, En.

Bumburing Welcomed to Join STAR Sabah

“Datuk Wilfred Bumburing is welcomed to join STAR Sabah and its struggle to regain the lost State rights which will lead to a better future for Sabah” said Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, the STAR Sabah Chief, to rumours of Bumburing quitting UPKO over unhappiness with Umno/BN’s treatment of Sabah.

“There is no denying that Sabah BN components are completely powerless and their leaders should realize by now that Sabahans have been fooled and cheated for the last 48 years resulting in Sabah losing its autonomy and political power as well as “loss” of its oil revenue and other tax revenues”.

Upko to stay with BN for now

By Luke Rintod of FMT
While Upko president Bernard Dompok has said
that the party will remain with Sabah BN,
insiders are sceptical.
PENAMPANG: Upko, the largely Kadazandusun-based party in Sabah Barisan Nasional, is unlikely to leave the coalition “before the general election” despite the persistent rumblings of discontent within its rank and file over Umno’s shabby treatment of the party.

Party president Bernard Dompok, who is also a federal minister, had indicated so and has reportedly pacified his deputy Wilfred Bumburing who is said to be toying with “jumping ship”.
