A senior Branch Chairman of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), Palalun Lagadan @ Peter, will challenge incumbent Kadamaian PBS divisional head, Datuk Herbert Timbon Lagadan, for the post at its annual general meeting (AGM) here on July 7, 2011.

Palalun, 58, who is PBS branch chairman for Kampung Gaur Linampai ever since the party's inception in 1985 till now, in a statement said he had registered his acceptance form to go for the top post after garnering four nominations from PBS branches in Kadamaian. A minimum of three nominations is required for the post.

KOTA KINABALU: Former Sabah minister Conrad Mojuntin, who is fasting to death in protest of the persecution against Christians in his state, is weak but resolute about his sacrifice.

Into his fourth day of a “fast to death” pledge, Mojuntin told FMT in an text message that he was “weak but okay. God helps us”.

European NGOs want Taib’s assets in Germany frozen

More Europe-based NGOs are plying pressure on the authorities there to freeze the assets of Sarawak Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud.

In a press statement today, Swiss NGO Bruno Manser Fund said that it had written to German chancellor Angela Merkel on the matter, together with two German NGOs – the Society for Threatened Peoples and Rettet den Regenwald.
