SAPP will fight to get back Labuan

Penampang, March 9, 2012: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) President Datuk Seri Panglima Yong Teck Lee said his party would fight for the return of Labuan while the surrendered of huge maritime territories known as Block L and Block M rich with oil to Brunei would haunt the present UMNO-led Barisan Nasional (BN) Government.

He said Sabah lost Labuan to the Federal Government some 28 years ago while the Block L and Block M territories off Sabah waters measuring a combined 3 million acres were given to Brunei during the last days of Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi (now Tun) tenure as Prime Minister.

A confusion has erupted due to ignorance. It has been stated that the Indians came here as beggars and the Chinese as prostitutes. Actually, if you were to really study Malayan and Malaysian history over the last 500 years or so, you will find that this country's history is not just about beggars and prostitutes. Malayan history has to be dissected into many periods. And each of these periods saw immigration involving almost all the races in Malaysia , save the Orang Asli (the Original People). I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejewelled trees, Christmas trees. I don't feel threatened. I don't feel discriminated against. That's what they are, Christmas trees.

PKR is worse than Umno, alleges ex-PKR division chief

KOTA KINABALU: Former PKR Sepangar Chief, Felix Sitaun said he left the party for STAR because he saw STAR as the real hope for Sabah.

‘Sabah, Sarawak’s ‘right’ to have more parliament seats’

does not reflect this.

KOTA KINABALU: Going by the spirit of the 1963 Malaysia Agreement, Sabah and Sarawak should have a minimum 78 seats in the current 222-seat Dewan Rakyat. But in reality this has never happened. Sabah and Sarawak currently have a collective 56 seats in Parliament.

Demanding for a review in the number of seats, State Reform Party (STAR) Sabah chapter chairman Jeffrey Kitingan said both states must collectively have at least 35 % of seats in parliament.

PENAMPANG : A social and consumerism activist here said the recent action taken by some pioneers of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) from Kepayan to finally leave the party and joined an opposition State Reform Party (STAR) is laudable.

Donny Yapp, 48, said it is a pleasant shock to many yet a historic brave move that signaled the Chinese warming up to Dr Jeffrey's untiring struggle to fight for Sabah state rights and autonomy.

“STAR Sabah supports additional state and parliamentary seats for Sabah and Sarawak and the need to observe the composition ratio of parliamentary seats agreed at the formation of Malaysia as well as ensure a fairer and more equitable distribution of funds for each constituency and the access to facilities and amenities by the people in both States” stated Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, Chairman of STAR Sabah in response to the opinion and suggestion of lawyer, Yunuf Maringking, on additional seats for Sabah.
