Jeffrey wants ‘Homeland Security’ for Sabah

The state government should set up its own Homeland Security
Division to fill in for the shortcomings of the federal
agencies in protecting the people in Sabah.

KOTA KINABALU: Police in Sabah are coming under increasing pressure to send a message to residents that their state is not going to be overrun by what is perceived to be the seedier elements of legal and illegal immigrants flooding the state.

The latest to rap the performance of the the police force over growing fears that crime has spiralled out of control in the state over the years is the Sabah chapter of the State Reform Party or STAR Sabah.

The opposition party which is gaining rapid grassroots support around the state has suggested that the state government should set up its own Homeland Security Division to fill in for the shortcomings of the federal agencies in protecting the people in Sabah.

Sabah Umno could lose ‘birthplace’

KOTA BELUD: Opposition State Reform Party (STAR) has penetrated Umno’s bastion in the state – the Iranun and Bajau kampungs – which incidentally is the birthplace of Sabah Umno.

STAR’s Sabah chairman, Jeffrey Kitingan, was elated to see about 150 senior citizens and the young who thronged to his ice-breaking “ceramah” at two kampungs here recently.

One session was held in Tempasuk Tamau, an Iranun kampung, not very far from Umno’s Pandikar Amin Mulia’s home. The ceramah was hosted by a local ustaz who recently joined STAR.

Clarification – Keningau Admin Centre For Interior Region

“While we welcome the much support for Keningau to be the new administrative capital of Sabah that was carried in the newspapers few days ago, we need to state that STAR Sabah only intends to make Keningau as the administrative centre of a new Interior “internal state” as part of an administration reform plan” said Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, the STAR Sabah Chief in response to what was erroneously reported that Keningau would be the new capital when STAR Sabah forms the new government.

It is the intention of STAR Sabah to be part a new Sabah government that will bring about reforms and changes and implement new and creative ideas and policies to create a new Sabah that is safe, autonomous and progressive.

PBS preparing for Pairin’s last stand

PENAMPANG: There’s a certain nervousness in the Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) ranks in the run-up to next week’s three-day party congress. It could well be the final one for its founder, Joseph Pairin Kitingan, at least as president.

With others in the party hierarchy expected to either shore up their positions or jockey for them, the congress is also expected to be closely monitored by many in the state hoping for a hint of what course the party will take.

Drafts of Pairin’s policy speech are being vetted by the top leadership, said sources who revealed that it focuses on pressing issues facing Sabah, such as the illegal immigrants, preparations for the general election and eventual change of leadership.

It was very disturbing to read in the local papers on Thurs 15 Nov, 2012 that Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman continues to remain in a state of denial on the grinding poverty situation in Sabah.

This is really unbecoming on the part of the Chief Minister. His high-handed attitude should be deplored and roundly condemned by all Sabahans especially the vast majority who has been suffering for so long under the BN Government since 1994.

We are by no means entirely blaming Musa for the plight of Sabah but he must share a large part of the blame. He has been the Chief Executive for a good many years and shows no signs, if any, of going away anytime soon and giving others an opportunity to do a better job.

KOTA KINABALU: Has the State Reform Party (STAR) peaked too soon in Sabah?

The party is seeing a slowdown in membership applications, it has failed to attract high profile former Barisan Nasional leaders who have quit the ruling coalition and its campaign is disjointed.

Tongues are wagging and party leader, maverick local politician Jeffrey Kitingan, is taking most of the flak. He is being blamed for being indecisive in the face manifold problems confronting the local opposition party that was formed 10 months ago.

Hints of despair in the party are surfacing and Kitingan who is no stranger to controversy may fall into a political abyss yet again by “refusing to listen to good and alert colleagues”, according to people with knowledge of the situation in the party.

STAR: Don’t Play With Words, NCR is Life

“The Chief Minister need to realize that NCR and native lands are life to the natives and too precious and should not play with words to hoodwink the natives” said Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, STAR Sabah Chief, in response to the Chief Minister’s reply in the State Legislative Assembly on Monday that the government has given priority to native rights.

The government’s ploy in using the State Attorney General and more recently the Lands and Surveys Director to state the government’s policy that NCR did not exist after 1930 has obviously backfired.  The move had incurred the wrath of the natives and reduced substantially the support of the Umno/BN government especially for the local KDM parties, PBS and Upko.

Rahman better expose grafts than defends colleagues, says Star

KOTA BELUD : The MP for Kota Belud, Abdul Rahman Dahlan, has been reminded that he sits in the MACC Special Committee on Anti-Corruption, and not to be too quick to jump on his feet openly defending his Umno colleagues who are subject of investigations on corrupt acts charge.

State Reform Party (Star) head for Kota Belud, Jalumin Bayogoh, said Abdul Rahman may have conflict of interest when he openly defends his colleagues as he was supposed to help expose corrupt acts and propose to strengthen approaches to stamp out graft and power abuses in the country.

STAR: nothing new in 2012 budget except for election goodies

“There is nothing new about the 2013 State Budget except for a few election goodies” said Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, STAR Sabah Chief, on the so-called record RM4,088 billion 2013 Budget.

The amount is more or less similar to the 2012 Budget of RM4.048 billion.  A RM40 million increase is less than 1% and insignificant. Obviously, due to the impending general elections, the state civil servants are the main beneficiaries of the election goodies.

“The Sabahgovernment need to take immediate actions to restore ownership rights of Sabah’s oil and gas resources as the legal opinion is that the vesting order signed by Tun Abdul Razak on 26 March 1975 granting ownership rights to Petronas is unlawful, unconstitutional and invalid” said Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, Chairman of STAR Sabah at a press conference regarding proposed legal action on the vesting of Sabah’s oil and gas resources to Petronas.

As a re-collection, Tun Abdul Razak, the then Prime Minister of Malaysia, had on 26 March 1975 signed away Sabah’s oil and gas resources to Petronas by executing the Vesting Order under Section 2(2) of the Petroleum Development Act, 1974 and granted in perpetuity and conveyed to and vested in Petronas the ownership in and the exclusive rights, powers, liberties and privileges of exploring, exploiting, winning and obtaining petroleum whether lying onshore or offshore of Malaysia.

September 16th is Historic But a Black Day for Sabah/Sarawak: STAR

KOTA KINABALU: The country is headed for dramatic changes and a sweeping reforms if a loose election pact called United Borneo Alliance (UBA) led by State Reform Party (STAR) is to form the next Sabah state government.

Sabah STAR chairman, Jeffrey Kitingan, promised that if the alliance wins a simple majority in the 60-seat state assembly at the coming general election, the new government would reclaim its rights as a “negara” and an autonomous region with special rights as was originally agreed and not be just one of 13 states of Malaysia as it has evolved.

He said 15 party leaders came forward and 11 were allowed to bleed and managed to collect 11 pints for the hospital's need. KOTA KINABALU: Chief secretary to the government Dr Ali Hamsa’s credibility has come under question following his latest statement that “almost” all federal departments and agencies in Sabah are headed by Sabahans.

Sabah STAR chairman Jeffrey Kitingan said in statement here that the announcement sounded very much like another unsubstantiated pre-election lie.

KOTA KINABALU: The State Reform Party (Star) has challenged local parties in Sabah to leave the Barisan Nasional (BN) in the wake of former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad’s widely-reported blog posting on Wednesday this week that “illegal immigrants who have stayed long in Sabah are entitled to citizenship especially when they can speak Bahasa Malaysia”.

He also called for the removal of illegal immigrants holding MyKads meant for citizens by operation of law from the electoral rolls.

Police urged to charge Mahathir with treason

Thirdly, Daniel urged the Police to interview Mahathir and charge him in Court over his blog posting “which is tantamount to an admission of sedition and treason”. He’s not in favour of the Federal Government recommending to the King that Mahathir be given any Royal Pardon by the backdoor.
