Bumburing’s frontman, PKR leader in punch-up

Despite Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim’s assurance
that all is well in Sabah PKR, skirmishes between
original and 'new' party members indicate otherwise.
KOTA KINABALU: All is not good within Sabah PKR, if a recent punch-up in Kota Belud is any indication.
A heated argument over who is the “more rightful” PKR candidate in Sabah led to punches between two local leaders from Kota Belud.
The punch-up was between the leaders of “PKR ori (originals)” and PKR photocopy (Wilfred Bumburing’s Angkatan Perubahan sabah-APS- members)
Mail Balinu, who is with APS, was allegedly flattened with one blow by one Minsin Sompong, from the other faction.

‘Voice for the Voiceless’ Ministry idea in time

by Joe Fernandez
If a Town Hall-style meeting of about 300 initially perplexed people in Kota Kinabalu last weekend is anything to go by, the nationwide movement for a Ministry of Orang Asal and Minority Affairs (MOAMA) has got off to a good start in Sabah.

The Sabahans quickly dropped their position that they were in a majority, following an explanation by Hindraf Makkal Sakthi chairman P. Waythamoorthy, on the need for a “Voice for the Voiceless” Ministry at the Federal level as in several other countries.

Of crooked minds, abuse of power, Raja Ropiaah & Najib's RED LIPS!

Written by  Mohd.Ariff Sabri
See how people in positions abused their power? The PM, defence Minister, the management of LTAT. A division of LTAT, Boustead Holdings answerable to the Defence Minister, buys 80% of Astacanggih Sdn Bhd for RM30 million.
What does Astacanggih have? It has no property. It has no track record. It has an outstanding loan with Kuwait Finance House. That is a liability. It has an unsettled dispute over rights on a land of 200 acres that on paper, is still owned by Awan Megah Sdn Bhd.
So why buy Astacanggih? Where is the value? Why not ignore Astacanggih and concentrate on Awan Megah the company that has value? It has a contract to build a RM100 million Defence Research Center and legal rights over an estate of 223 acres in Kelang. Who the hell in LTAT recommended the purchase of Astacanggih?

SAPP: Tell us what’s our worth, Anwar

The capability of local Sabah party SAPP, which has
been in seat negotiations with Pakatan Rakyat Sabah
since 2009, has suddenly come under question.
KOTA KINABALU: Opposition Sabah Progressive People’s Party (SAPP) has thrown the ball back at Pakatan Rakyat over its demand for seats and wants to know what the coalition thinks the party is worth.
“If [Opposition Leader] Anwar Ibrahim said SAPP is contesting too many seats, and questions its strength, it is very simple: just tell me how many we should contest in state and or parliament?
“If they [Pakatan] think it is not agreeable to them… tell us how many they think we should contest in state and Parliament.
“I believe people expect Anwar [to give an answer],” said SAPP president Yong Teck Lee.

Govt had records of illegals in Sabah

Former Sabah Chief Minister Harris Salleh who denied
knowledge of Project IC added that "even if the
identity cards were given out speedily, it was
done according to the federal constitution."
KOTA KINABALU: The Royal Commissison of Inquiry (RCI) to investigate the problem of illegal immigrants in Sabah was told that 446,173 refugees and illegal immigrants were deported from 1990 to date.
Sabah and Labuan Federal Special Task Force Team director Suhaimi Mohd Salleh said those deported had no documents.
Asked how he came up with the number by RCI chairman, ex-chief judge of Sabah and Sarawak Steve Shim Lip Kiong, Suhaimi said there were records.
The fifth witness, who joined the Special Task Force on Jan 15, 2012, also said the team, which was set up on April 4, 1989, also managed and tackled problems of illegal immigrants in Sabah.

We gave Muslim foreigners IDs to vote

Sabah NRD director tells the RCI that he was
personally instructed by Megat Junid Megat
Ayub to recruit new voters.
KOTA KINABALU: A former National Registration Department (NRD) officer told an inquiry here that he took part in a project to give foreigners here identity cards so that they could vote in an election in the 1990s.
Mohd Nasir Sugip, who was detained under the now repealed Internal Security Act (ISA), told the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) he was part of a top secret operation dubbed ‘Ops Durian Buruk’ (Operation Rotten Durian) on the instruction of his bosses in the department.
He claimed the operation ran from 1992 to 1995 and said the instruction to furnish the foreigners with identity cards so that they could vote came from the state Election Commission (EC).

‘Jeffrey desperate because STAR falling apart’

By Joseph Bingkasan
Angkatan Perubahan Sabah chief Wilfred Bumburing
has reminded STAR's Jeffrey Kitingan of his own
"cari makan politics" past.
KOTA KINABALU: Tuaran MP Wilfred Bumburing believes that State Reform Party (STAR) chief Jeffrey Kitingan’s incessant attacks on him is because of Angkatan Perubahan Sabah’s (APS) increasing presence in KadazanDusunMurut areas.
Bumburing said it was now obvious that Jeffrey, who’s been claiming absolute strength in KDM areas, was “desperate” because “STAR is falling apart since the formation of APS”.
He said the dissolution of the STAR Papar division last month with the exit of well-known activist Patrick Sindu and more than 1,000 members was an indication of the beginning. All of them joined PKR.

Bomb scare disrupts Sabah RCI hearings

The A-G's Chambers said ex-detainees under the Internal
Security Act 1960 would also be called on matters
related to the issuance of identification documents.
KOTA KINABALU: A rumoured bomb scare brought to an abrupt halt the first day of the much- awaited Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) public hearing on illegal immigrants in Sabah.
On the advice of the police, RCI chief Steve Shim suspended the inquiry held at the High Court here at 2.45pm.
Commission secretary Saripuddin Kassim had conveyed to the panel the police advice.
Shim told everyone present that the hearing had to be stopped “due to some emergency”.
At that time the third witness was giving evidence. At 3.05pm, the police bomb disposal unit arrived. The court complex was cordoned off and traffic was halted along part of Jalan Pantai running in front of the court complex.

“He is now immediately out of danger thanks to hundreds of donors who responded to our appeal as we managed to retrieve the correct blood type and I thank the donors and the media and bloggers for saving his life,” said Selly Onong, the boy’s mother.

kl112 rally people's uprising multiracial crowd story"Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred." - Martin Luther King Jr.

COMMENT Before I begin, I make no claims of speaking for "the majority". As always, people were willing to talk.

Parents hope culprit will be penalised

The parents of a teenager who was found dead,
are distraught as they have been kept in the
dark over the outcome of police investigations.
KOTA KINABALU: The parents of Norikoh Saliwah, the teenaged girl who was found dead by the side of the road on Nov 25 last year, are eager to know what happened to their daughter on that fateful day when she had merely gone to help a cousin find a job.
Farmer Saliwah Madaya, 57, and his wife Raimas Makanal, 56 of Kg Bombong 1, Kota Marudu, have seldom come to the state capital. This was one of those special occasions when he and his wife had no option but to make one of those very rare trips here, but unlike before this time it was an extremely poignant one.

Huge opposition rally in KL signasl new political shift in Malaysia

By Julia Zappei of AFP
NONEKUALA LUMPUR : Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim urged voters to oust the country's long-ruling government as tens of thousands of supporters gathered Saturday in a show of force ahead of coming elections.

At least 50,000 people crowded into an iconic stadium in the capital Kuala Lumpur where independence was declared in 1957 and tens of thousands more thronged surrounding areas as the opposition effectively kicked off its campaign.

"We plead for you to give us a chance so that the people's voices will become the voices of the leaders of this nation," Anwar told the crowds as he denounced what he called the government's misrule and corruption.

France jet fighters flew to Mali's rescue and bombed Islamist rebels

BAMAKO/PARIS (Reuters) - French aircraft pounded Islamist rebels in Mali for a second day on Saturday and neighboring West African states sped up their plans to deploy troops in an international campaign to prevent groups linked to al Qaeda expanding their power base.

France, warning that the control of northern Mali by the militants posed a security threat to Europe, intervened dramatically on Friday as heavily armed Islamist fighters swept southwards towards Mali's capital Bamako.

Under cover from French fighter planes and attack helicopters, Malian troops routed a rebel convoy and drove the Islamists out of the strategic central town of Konna, which they had seized on Thursday. A senior army officer in the capital Bamako said more than 100 rebel fighters had been killed.

Bumburing, a Prisoner of Conscience? : Dr. Jeffrey

I was shocked for three reasons – One, what leverage do you have to demand when you belong to them (PKR).
Two, where will you go if you leave? …. BN?   Third, are you not a potential traitor to PR/PKR and to
the rakyat who elected you?; Dr Jeffrey
“Wilfred Bumburing, leader of the so-called APS, is a prisoner of his own conscience because he is unable to distinguish between the right to fight/defend Sabah’s inalienable rights and the politics of nationalism. He seems pre-occupied with the politics of “carimakan” rather than fighting for regaining Sabah’s rights and correcting the wrongs committed by Malayan political leaders on Sabah” said Datuk Dr.Jeffrey Kitingan, Chairman of STAR SABAH in response to Bumburing’s statement that STAR is “Anti-Malaya”.

Star will move on, says Papar leader

By Baharudin Nayan
PAPAR
: In respond to the claim by former Star head for Papar, Datuk Patrick Sindu, that Papar Star is dissolved, i would like to stress that the majority of grassroots leaders and members in Papar are steadfast in their unity with Star state leadership in regaining our pride and empowering Sabahans.

In Pantai Manis especially, there is no big effect at all from Sindu's departure. If anything, Star strength and support from the people in Pantai Manis is increasing even more by the day as more and more see and understand the earnest strugle and clear direction of Star.

Salleh: Stop the debate on ‘Allah’

Former Sabah CM says the prevailing peace,
unity and stability in the country should
be maintained at all costs.
KOTA BELUD: State Legislative Assembly Speaker Salleh Said Keruak today called for an immediate stop to debate over the use of “Allah” by non-Muslims, for fear that the prolonged open debate may give room to extremists in all religions to take advantage of the situation.
In making the call, the former chief minister said the prevailing peace, unity and stability in the country should be maintained at all costs.
“Don’t politicise it [the use of Allah] and score points. Keep sensitive issues aside. We must maintain a harmonious environment and respect each other.

Learning from Greece

On November 30-December 2012, Greece’s Coalition of the Radical Left, known as SYRIZA, held a national conference as the first step in transforming the coalition into a more unified political formation. SYRIZA was formed in 2004 as an electoral alliance uniting radical left-wing organizations—there are now more than a dozen member groups. But since its inspiring success in nearly winning national elections last spring, SYRIZA’S ranks have been swelled by many unaffiliated individuals.

SYRIZA’s mass appeal was based on its rejection of the austerity program supported by Greece’s two main parties, the center-left PASOK and center-right New Democracy. Instead, SYRIZA pledged to immediately cancel the two so-called Memorandums—agreements made between the Greek government and the “troika” of the European Union, European Central Bank and International Monetary Fund that require savage cuts, privatization and anti-working class laws in return for a bailout of Greece’s financial system.

Updates From Nilakrisna James on Behalf of Neowell Vann Houtton, Age 12, Urgent Appeal for Donation Of Blood Type O Positive R1 R1 JKA

Kota Kinabalu, Sabah—The 4th floor of Hospital Likas in Kingfisher was today swarmed with donors from all walks of life rushing to donate blood to save the life of Neowell Vann Houtton, whose rare blood type O Positive R1R1 JKA must have an EXACT match to qualify for a successful blood transfusion.

Nilakrisna James, lawyer and activist appealing on 12 year old’s Neowell’s behalf, said that hospital staff had informed her that the blood of donors will go into the blood bank for the hospital and distributed to any patient, not just Neowell. However, Neowell must have an exact blood match so all regular donors to the hospital who have donor cards or are aware that they are O Positive R1R1 JKA are encouraged to donate their blood at Hospital Likas 4th floor in Kingfisher and inform Neowell’s mother, Selly Onong, 0107826955 immediately.

STAR: CM Should Clarify Timber Deal Report

“The CM, as chairman of Yayasan Sabah, should clarify the Business Times report and not the Director of Forestryas there seems to be more behind the purported timber deal of some 80,937 hectares (199,995 acres) to be awarded to Permaju Holdings Sdn. Bhd. by Yayasan Sabah (YS)” said Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, Chairman of STAR SABAH in response to the mere denial by the Director of Forestry to the news report of the alleged timber deal in the Business Times on Monday.

Neowell Vann Houtton, Age 12, urgent appeal for donation of blood type O Positive R1 R1

By Nilakrisna James

Kota Kinabalu, Sabah—An urgent appeal to the public is made to all those whose blood type is O-Positive to come forward and donate blood at Hospital Likas, Kingfisher, in Kota Kinabalu to save the life of 12 year old Neowell Vann Houtton, whose HB blood level is now at 6.7 and requiring urgent blood transfusion to save his life.

Neowell is suffering from thalassemia major and requires monthly blood transfusions but his rare blood type of O-Positive R1R1 means that access to the correct blood type is difficult. The normal HB level is 13 and Neowell’s blood level is now considered critical.

Population Re-Engineering

By Johan Bakri

Dear friends

This is of interest to those watching the development of Malaysia and Singapore  I am currently reading two books in parallel:

1]  The March to Putrajaya  This is about the recent and current happenings in Malaysia.  It is the first book I am reading as an e-book

2]  Men in White.  This is the history of Singapore for the last 50 years

The contrast is most enlightening; not that one has to read the books to know. The books spells out the minutiae that is not intended for the public eyes. Needless to say the former is banned in Malaysia.

STAR: Borneo Agenda About Sabah Rights Not Anti-Malaya

STAR's Sabah Information Chief, Edward Linggu
“Sabah and Sarawak are equal partners with Malaya and not the 12th and 13th States and the Borneo Agenda is about the rights of Sabah and Sarawak and is not anti-Malaya or parochial” said Edward Linggu, STAR Sabah Information Chief, in response to Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Bumburing’s statement reported in the local media.

The Malaya Agenda is about the internal control and colonization of Sabah and the siphoning of Sabah’s rich resources, oil and gas and revenue.   The Borneo Agenda advocated by STAR is about the seeking and restoring Sabah’s rights and autonomy and to manage its own rich resources.  Treating Sabah as a colony and “fixed deposit” and taking 95% of Sabah’s oil revenue and 100% of its federal revenue is no longer acceptable.

Scientist Richard Dawkins' letter to his 10 year old daughter about the irrational world

The following is a letter that Dr Richard Dawkins wrote to his daughter when she turned 10. Richard is one of the world's most renowned scientists who is known for speaking out against the dangers of religion. This is a good read - Editors

To my dearest daughter,
Now that you are ten, I want to write to you about something that is important to me. Have you ever wondered how we know the things that we know? How do we know, for instance, that the stars, which look like tiny pinpricks in the sky, are really huge balls of fire like the Sun and very far away? And how do we know that the Earth is a smaller ball whirling round one of those stars, the Sun?

What’s the deal on bridges, Musa?

Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak had announced two
bridges to be built in Tuaran for RM18 million,
but now it is RM16 million for one.
By Joseph Bingkasan
KOTA KINABALU: A Sabah pro-opposition MP is asking Chief Minister Musa Aman to explain why only now one of the two promised bridges is going to be built in Tuaran.
Wilfred Bumburing said there were supposed to be two bridges to be built along the Tuaran River both totaling about RM18 million but the Musa had only announced one.
“The announcement to build the sports complex and the RM16 million bridge connecting town and the villages around Sungai Damit areas is timely and most welcome. However, there are a few things that need to be clarified,” the former Barisan Nasional MP said in a statement yesterday.

Food for thoughts...

Compiled by Joe Fernandez
REALITY does not exist. Or does it?

What exists are illusions which appear as reality.

Is protein, for example, reality or a fleeting glimpse of something in transition? It's actually carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen and sometimes sulphur and phosphorous coming together.

All elements are actually from hydrogen.

Move before hydrogen and then you have plasma etc.

“STAR NOW BIG PARTY IN SABAH”- Dr. Jeffrey

Star Sabah first anniversary
“STAR is no longer a “mosquito” party but a strong and significant political party in Sabah with a big following” said Datuk Dr.Jeffrey Kitingan, Chairman of STAR SABAH during STAR Sabah’s first anniversary last weekend.

“Compared to PKR which took six to seven years to get about 60,000 members, STAR has attracted 270,000 members within a short span of 12 months” he said.

Curse of No.13 to usher the end of Sabah BN?

By Jason Matius
KOTA KINABALU: There is now serious talk spreading among the Sabah opposition parties concerning the effect of numbers in the political fortunes of political parties in Sabah . And to the opposition parties’delight, the numbers appear to point to the death knell of the Barisan Nasional in the next general election.

A series of texts messages and excited conversations concerning the number thirteen, which prophesying BN’s supposed impending fall, have been making their rounds among mainly opposition supporters here. These messages remind Sabahans of the fact that USNO, Sabah ’s first government, was defeated by Berjaya in 1976 (7 + 6 = 13), Berjaya was defeated by PBS in 1985 (8 + 5= 13), and PBS was toppled from power by BN in 1994 (9 + 4 = 13). Also interesting is that each of these three governments ruled for exactly nine years!

Stop bullying the Christians, warns Star Women Chief Melanie Annol

By Ezra Haganez
PENAMPANG : Yet another leader of the Sabah chapter of the State Reform Party (Star) has cried foul over what she called obvious religious discrimination against the native Christians in the state.

Sabah Star Women Chief, Melanie Annol, in a statement, said there had been increasing reports and claims that both the Federal Government and State Government willfully sidelined native Christians in job opportunities and promotions in public service and government-linked bodies in the state.

“Wake Up Before Its Too Late”- Dr. Jeffrey Tells Sabahans

“Sabahans must wake up to the reality that they stand to lose everything – their country, their independence, their rich resources, their land, their economic opportunities and their cultural heritage – if they continue to remain silent and oblivious to these realities” said Datuk Dr.JeffreyKitingan, Chairman of STAR SABAH at the Launching of STAR’s campaign called “Selamatkan Sabah Tanah Airku” during STAR Sabah’s first anniversary celebration at SM KianKok, Kota Kinabalu on Sunday.

Malaya Federation masquarading as Malaysia Federation ?

Malaysia has an unwritten Constitution based on the Batu Sumpah and other constitutional documents like the written Constitution of Malaya, Malaysia Agreement, the Malaysia Bill, the Inter Governmental Committee Report, the Cobbold Commission Report, the 20/18 Points, Adat, the UN's Informal Survey on Malaysia, the Sabah and Sarawak Constitutions, the Dent/Overbeck Agreements with the Sultans of Brunei and Sulu, the Madrid Protocol of 1885, the Singapore/Malaya Merger through Malaysia proposal, the various British Committees which studied the formation of Malaysia etc etc long before Tunku Abdul Rahman announced it in May 1961 at a meeting with the Foreign Correspondents Association in Singapore.

Asking RM 1,500 is a decent human rights demand - S.Arutchelvan

I refer to the article Pakatan rejects RM1,500 wage proposal in FMT today and would like to reiterate that asking a wage of RM 1,500 a month is not outrageous nor it is without basis. Asking RM 1,500 for every worker is a decent wage proposal and decent wages are part and parcel of Human rights. Outrageous or being impractical would be to ask the pay of Maybank CEO which is RM 90,000 a month or Syabas CEO who earns RM 450,000 a month.

Today we do not question the massive income inequality and discrimination when it comes to the rich and powerful. The highest 20% of Malaysian earn 51% of the total income whereby the bottom 40% earn merely 14%. The poorest 10 percent only control 1.7% of the total income. Today we question why must be the lowest 20% should be paid RM 1,500 and give that as the reason why the economy is going to collapse.

Umno needs Sabah, S’wak to hold premiership

PKR-led Pakatan Rakyat is greedier than Umno, claims a
Sabah opposition party leader frustrated with Umno
and Pakatan 'hegemony'
By Luke Rintod of FMT
KOTA KINABALU: UK-based NGO,  Borneo’s Plight in Malaysia (BoPiMaFo) believes the only reason Malaya based parties are desperate to retain Sabah and ‘invade’ Sarawak is so that they can continue to decide which Umno leader would become the Prime Minister.
Daniel Jambun, who leads BoPiMaFo, said: “Umno wanted to go to Sarawak but its dream was shattered not because of Sarawak BN parties’ refusal but because of the people.
“If Umno spreads its wings to Sarawak, it would empower Sabah and Sarawak to decide who would be Umno president and eventually Prime Minister as both combined number of delegates from East Malaysia would have been the biggest to Umno’s annual assembly.

The cause and effect principle in the 'Allah' debate

In the last few days or weeks, we have seen a torrential debate around the word ‘Allah’ in the public domain. It’s still going on.

The issue is not new for it has been debated for nearly a decade, though of late, it has gained fresh momentum and intensity. Briefly stated, the Malay-Muslim community leaders have somehow developed the perception that ‘Allah’ is a holy word in Islam and is thereby to be used exclusively only by Muslims.

Christians in Malaysia have rights too

By Queville To
There is an assumption among politicians at the national
level that no matter what they say about the Christians,
the latter wouldn’t dare respond to assert their rights,
says Daniel John Jambun.
KOTA KINBALU: Christians in the country should not be afraid to assert their rights as Malaysians in matters concerning their faith, said Sabah STAR.
In a statement issued here, party deputy chairman Daniel John Jambun said politicians who get involved in the debates on religion in Malaysia were behaving as if the Christians have no feelings and no rights as Malaysians.
“It is ridiculous that many non-Christian leaders are talking about various religious issues as if the Christians are emotionally dead about matters affecting their religious rights,” Jambun said.

How can we be happy on the eve of UMNO agenda to disenfranchise all Sabahans?

The new year brings with it one clear and present danger to the peace loving people of Sabah. They are facing the likelihood of the electoral system being changed in such a way that the legitimate Sabah voter will be outnumbered by “illegals” instant voters created by UMNO rigging of the electoral system.

Last year (2012) PM Najib's many visits to Sabah were more than just to show his love and concern for the welfare of Sabahans.

In fact he was discussing with Sabah UMNO and organising the re-arranging of the voting pattern in Sabah.

Malaysia Federation has failed

By Dr Jeffrey G. Kitingan
2013 will most likely be the beginning year of Correction, Restoration and Renewal, while 2012 was the peak of Malaysia’s manipulative politics, said political activist and STAR Sabah Chairman, DatukDr. Jeffrey Kitingan.

The Fall of Malaysia as a Federation
Malaysia was envisioned to be a great new Federation when three infant nations (Singapore, North Borneo and Sarawak) were forced by circumstances (due to national security, post-World War II consideration and de-colonization) to be rushed into a merger with Malaya by a 1963 agreement (the Malaysia Agreement) with many pre-conditions.  Under the circumstances, Malaysia was a confusing concept right from the start.

STAR Sabah to celebrate 1st Anniversary on 06 January 2013

“The Star Reform Party (STAR), Sabah will be celebrating its 1st Anniversary on 06 January 2013 at SM Kian Kok Hall, JalanTuaran, Kota Kinabalu, starting at 10.00 am” announced Guandee Kohoi, Deputy Secretary General, cum Organizing Chairman of the Anniversary celebrations in a press statement released today.

STAR Sabah was officially launched on 06 January 2012 and since its launching it has worked tirelessly the past year throughout Sabah promoting the BORNEO AGENDA, which was first promoted by the United Borneo Front (UBF), and educating and raising the knowledge and awareness of Sabahans of the rights and special position of Sabah in Malaysia and the wayward treatment of Sabah and Sabahans by the powers that be, as well as advocating the restoration of Sabah’s rights and position as an equal partner.
