Malaysia Federation has failed

2013 will most likely be the beginning year of Correction, Restoration and Renewal, while 2012 was the peak of Malaysia’s manipulative politics, said political activist and STAR Sabah Chairman, DatukDr. Jeffrey Kitingan.

The Fall of Malaysia as a Federation
Malaysia was envisioned to be a great new Federation when three infant nations (Singapore, North Borneo and Sarawak) were forced by circumstances (due to national security, post-World War II consideration and de-colonization) to be rushed into a merger with Malaya by a 1963 agreement (the Malaysia Agreement) with many pre-conditions.  Under the circumstances, Malaysia was a confusing concept right from the start.

Unhappy Patrick Sindu quits Star for PKR

PAPAR : Public figure Patrick Sindu is quitting State Reform Party (Star) to join a Peninsular oppsosition party, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).

He will do so at a PKR function at 2pm in Kampung Sungkadon, Papar tomorrow (Jan 5, 2013).

"There is a ceremony on the resignation of Star members in P175 Papar tomorrow, to be witnesed by PKR President, Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail," said one of his text messages intercepted by Borneo Herald today.

STAR: This Time Let the People Win

With GE13 just around the corner, political scenario in Sabah becomes hot as usual with Veteran (old-political-minded) politicians ‘badmouthing’ each other all the way. That was what ex-UPKO turned APS chairman, Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Bumburng did via his info chief, youth chief and secretary general towards Datuk Dr Jeffrey G Kitingan over who has the better solution towards the greatest rip-off of Sabah and its people.

Alternative Media Chief for STAR Sabah admits that it’s very disappointing indeed. "Why is APS resorting to maliciously derogatory comments of STAR and its warriors? How can they claim to be a leader of the people if they can easily believe rumours picked up from the streets?"

KOTA KINABALU: Anwar Ibrahim may be a happier man these days with the positive sounds coming out of Sabah.

Going by what Angkatan Perubahan Sabah (APS) speakers are saying at each of its roadshows held around the state since its formation on July 29, Pakatan Rakyat is on a solid footing and the Barisan Nasional’s fixed deposit state is very much in play in the coming general election.

APS headed by Tuaran MP Wilfred Bumburing which has been tasked by Anwar to garner support for the opposition, especially from the natives is confident that it has begun swinging support for the opposition coalition in Kadazandusun and Murut majority constituencies in the state.

Will SAPP-STAR finally deal?

Sabah State Reform Party (STAR) wants a public
commitment from Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP)
and is no longer prepared to be left hanging.

KOTA KINABALU: Will today be the day that local Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) decides who it will bed with and openly declare so?

The party’s supreme council is scheduled to meet today and high on the agenda is its relationship with Sabah State Reform Party (STAR). Up until now, their ties have been “hanging”, with SAPP being seen as “non-committal”.

Currently, SAPP has a foot in Pakatan Rakyat and another in United Borneo Alliance (UBA), an umbrella body initiated by Jefftrey Kitingan as the political front for parties that subscribe to his United Borneo Front’s (UBF) Borneo Agenda.

Jeffrey, who is Sabah STAR chief, has kept the doors open to SAPP and its president Yong Teck Lee despite advice to the contrary from within and outside his party and circle.

Bumburing and Jeffrey in face-off

communities' votes in Sabah and handing BN a measure of
confidence that it can prolong its hold.

KOTA KINABALU: Two Kadazandusun opposition leaders here are going toe-to-toe over who has the more credible solution to what they claim is the great rip-off of Sabah and its people.

Maverick Sabah politician Jeffrey Kitingan has taken a hard line on ‘Malayan’ parties and has accused opposition leaders of being turncoats no better than the all-dominating Barisan Nasional ruling coalition they are castigating for rejecting his Borneo agenda that focuses exclusively on the rights of Sabah and Sarawak.

On the other side is Wilfred Bumburing, a MP who has turned independent and is leading Angkatan Perubahan Sabah (APS), a opposition-friendly grouping that sees Jeffrey’s brand of Borneo-centric politics as out of touch with reality.

STAR Fully Committed to United Opposition Against BN

“STAR Sabah is fully committed to the United Borneo Alliance (UBA) and a united opposition including SAPP, USNO and Pakatan Rakyat to oust the current Umno/BN federal and state governments” reiterated Edward Linggu, STAR Sabah Information Chief, in response to the recent press reportsof Richard Jimmy.

STAR Sabah wish to clarify that while we respect Richard’s personal views, the press reports do not represent the official stand of STAR Sabah.  Perhaps, his reports sadly may have caused some confusion and concerns but we are confident that the people are matured enough to understand the real situation.   For the record, he is not a member of our Supreme Council.

Star: Set up homeland security to better protect Sabah

“The State government need to take drastic and urgent steps to ensure the better security of Sabah and its people and should immediately set up a HOMELAND SECURITY to complement and supplement the shortcomings of the federal agencies in protecting the people in Sabah” suggested Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, STAR Sabah Chief, at the launching of the STAR Sabah, Ranau election machinery in Kaingaran, and in response to the furore and anger reflected in the internet social networks caused by the recent cruel and brutal murder of the teenager, Norikon Saliwa, in Kota Marudu allegedly by foreigners.

Clarification – Keningau Admin Centre For Interior Region

“While we welcome the much support for Keningau to be the new administrative capital of Sabah that was carried in the newspapers few days ago, we need to state that STAR Sabah only intends to make Keningau as the administrative centre of a new Interior “internal state” as part of an administration reform plan” said Datuk Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, the STAR Sabah Chief in response to what was erroneously reported that Keningau would be the new capital when STAR Sabah forms the new government.

It is the intention of STAR Sabah to be part a new Sabah government that will bring about reforms and changes and implement new and creative ideas and policies to create a new Sabah that is safe, autonomous and progressive.

MACC panelist under fire for defending Musa

KOTA BELUD: Kota Belud MP Abdul Rahman Dahlan has been reminded that he sits on a Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) panel and should not be too quick to jump and openly defend his Umno colleagues who are subject to corruption investigations.

Abdul Rahman sits on a MACC’s Special Committee on Anti-Corruption.

Last week he jumped to Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman’s defence over the RM40 million issue.

Commenting on this, Kota Belud State Reform Party (STAR) head Jalumin Bayogoh said Abdul Rahman’s defence of his party colleagues was an indication of a conflict of interest as he is supposed to help expose corruption and propose ways to strengthen approaches to stamp out graft and power abuses in the country.

STAR: PM Should Stop Lying and Fooling Sabahans

STAR Qualified to Contest State and Parliament Seats in PRU-13: SPR

The meeting with the State SPR was arranged to seek clarifications from the SPR following the unfounded rumours being spread by other desperate political parties against STAR Sabah following its meteoric rise in support from the people in Sabah and growing base in Sarawak.

STAR: BN Government Planning to Abolish Native Rights

The native customary rights of indigenous people are recognized and are to be protected and have been universally adopted of late by many countries under the United Nations Declaration of Rights of Indigenous People.

The recent statement by the Lands and Surveys Director that NCR does not exist after the enforcement of the Sabah Land Ordinance, 1930 is not unexpected as the present government has failed to resolve NCR problems in the State.

The Director cannot be blamed for being used as the mouthpiece of the BN government and merely echoed the previous statement of the State Attorney General.

Battle for Tambunan: Pairin unshakable?

failed as a leader, it is unlikely that
the Kadazandusun community will vote
against him in the 13th general election.

TAMBUNAN: Opposition parties and their candidates are lining up to have another go at toppling Deputy Chief Minister Joseph Pairin Kitingan from a seat that he has held for over a generation.

Others have tried and failed but the times are changing and the opposition is gaining momentum mostly because of the growing perceptions of corruption in high places and the slow pace of development in the resource-rich state.

Now a veteran of Sabah’s murky politics, Pairin, can expect to be challenged by candidates from State Reform Party (STAR) and PKR, to name two, in the Tambunan state constituency in the coming 13th general election.

The Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) president can also expect challenges from several independents for the state seat which he has held for well over three decades since 1976 when he won the seat for Berjaya.

The septuagenarian politician who many say has become irrelevant in the Umno-led Barisan Nasional state government recently announced that he intended to defend his state and (Keningau) parliamentary seats, one more time.

STAR first political party to sign TI pledge

Twenty-five potential Sabah STAR election candidates have
signed an integrity pledge by Transparency International.

KOTA KINABALU: Transparency International (TI) has praised the State Reform Party (STAR) for being the first political party in Malaysia to sign an “integrity pledge” to be honourable and incorruptible at the coming general election.

TI-Malaysia president, Paul Low Seng Kuan, said he was happy that STAR has come forward as a group and signed the pledge at its first convention here today, ahead of a crucial general election, due by April next year.

“It is an important step taken to strengthen societal trust in our politicians and our democracy and governance. We must fight corruption as corruption has failed nations,” he said.

STAR promises sweeping reforms

KOTA KINABALU: The country is headed for dramatic changes and a sweeping reforms if a loose election pact called United Borneo Alliance (UBA) led by State Reform Party (STAR) is to form the next Sabah state government.

Sabah STAR chairman, Jeffrey Kitingan, promised that if the alliance wins a simple majority in the 60-seat state assembly at the coming general election, the new government would reclaim its rights as a “negara” and an autonomous region with special rights as was originally agreed and not be just one of 13 states of Malaysia as it has evolved.
