What’s the deal on bridges, Musa?

Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak had announced two
bridges to be built in Tuaran for RM18 million,
but now it is RM16 million for one.
By Joseph Bingkasan
KOTA KINABALU: A Sabah pro-opposition MP is asking Chief Minister Musa Aman to explain why only now one of the two promised bridges is going to be built in Tuaran.
Wilfred Bumburing said there were supposed to be two bridges to be built along the Tuaran River both totaling about RM18 million but the Musa had only announced one.
“The announcement to build the sports complex and the RM16 million bridge connecting town and the villages around Sungai Damit areas is timely and most welcome. However, there are a few things that need to be clarified,” the former Barisan Nasional MP said in a statement yesterday.

Nama Musa belum dibersihkan lagi

Shafie’s wooing Yong back into BN

In a bid to unseat Musa Aman, Umno vice-president Shafie Apdal
is allegedly brokering deals with SAPP's Yong Teck Lee.
Umno vice-president Shafie Apdal is allegedly masterminding the return of former Sabah chief minister Yong Teck Lee into the Barisan Nasional and claiming he has the tacit approval of party president Najib Tun Razak to negotiate the return.
This is despite the fact that Sabah BN components distrust Yong, who is Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) president.
Yong, Shafie and Joseph Ambrose Lee were partners in crime at one time. They allegedly took over the RM30-billion timber wealth of Yayasan Sabah through a share-swap. The “swap” had allegedly taken place when Yong was chief minister and Shafie a directer in Yayasan Sabah.

STAR: CM Must Take Responsibility for Sabah’s Poverty

Musa must take responsibility for Sabah’s poverty

It was very disturbing to read in the local papers on Thurs 15 Nov, 2012 that Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman continues to remain in a state of denial on the grinding poverty situation in Sabah.

This is really unbecoming on the part of the Chief Minister. His high-handed attitude should be deplored and roundly condemned by all Sabahans especially the vast majority who has been suffering for so long under the BN Government since 1994.

We are by no means entirely blaming Musa for the plight of Sabah but he must share a large part of the blame. He has been the Chief Executive for a good many years and shows no signs, if any, of going away anytime soon and giving others an opportunity to do a better job.

Sabah’s oil curse strikes again

Poverty-riddled Sabah is the sixth biggest contributor to
the national economy, contributing more than a quarter of
the total oil and gas produced in the country.
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah lost control of its oil wealth more than 30 years ago but the fallout of the widely acknowledged cock-eyed contract is continuing to roil business dealings in the state.
The state Barisan Nasional government is now facing more questions over how it is managing the Petronas-sponsored Sabah Oil and Gas Terminal (SOGT) project that began more than a year ago.
The Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) has accused Chief Minister Musa Aman’s Umno-led BN government of failing to safeguard the interest of the local companies in the ongoing multi-billion-ringgit project.
Melanie Chia, the party’s outspoken women’s wing chief, said there appeared to be no attempt by the state government to ensure locals get a bigger share of the spin-offs from the SOGT project.

MACC panelist under fire for defending Musa

MACC panelist Abdul Rahman Dahlan's credibility is now
under question after he openly defended Musa Aman over
the RM40 million political donation.
KOTA BELUD: Kota Belud MP Abdul Rahman Dahlan has been reminded that he sits on a Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) panel and should not be too quick to jump and openly defend his Umno colleagues who are subject to corruption investigations.
Abdul Rahman sits on a MACC’s Special Committee on Anti-Corruption.
Last week he jumped to Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman’s defence over the RM40 million issue.
Commenting on this, Kota Belud State Reform Party (STAR) head Jalumin Bayogoh said Abdul Rahman’s defence of his party colleagues was an indication of a conflict of interest as he is supposed to help expose corruption and propose ways to strengthen approaches to stamp out graft and power abuses in the country.

RM40m scandal may see BN lose Sabah

Raja Petra also claims that more are involved in the
RM40 million scandal - including the home minister,
attorney-general and a Cabinet minister
PETALING JAYA: Timber scandals in Sabah, particularly the recent one involving a RM40 million “donation”, may cost Barisan Nasional the state, claimed Raja Petra Kamarudin today.
The editor of the Malaysia Today blog, in his latest posting “The timber mafia is larger than you suspect”, also claimed that there were more people involved in the “untold story” of timber commissions scandal and it was not just limited to businessman Michael Chia and Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman.
“The likelihood of half the parliamentary seats in Sabah falling to the opposition is not an impossible scenario. And if that happens then the state can fall as well. That is how serious this matter has become,” he said.

Still keeping mum over SAS fiasco

But investors hope the isssue will be brought up at
today's sitting of the State Legislative Assembly.
KOTA KINABALU: “Just give me back my money. Don’t be irresponsible.” This is what Joseph would like to say to Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman if he ever meets him face to face.
The middle-aged father of six has been saying this for years with an air of resignation. But now, there is a faint hope he might get an answer when the State Legislative Assembly begins its sitting to unveil the next state budget.
Joseph is talking about his savings that he invested in the ill-fated Saham Amanah Sabah (SAS) trust fund that was launched by the Barisan Nasional state government in 1994.

Poser over RM40m for Sabah Umno

By Luke Rintod of FMT
The highly reputed Hong Kong ICAC has washed its hands
off the RM40 million Musa Aman 'matter' and even
retracted its probe application with the Swiss Court.
KOTA KINABALU: The Umno-led Barisan Nasional government’s attempt to “clear” Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman of allegations of money laundering after some RM40 million had floated up out of nowhere, has raised more questions of how political parties are funded, said State Reform Party (STAR).
The party’s deputy chairman, Daniel John Jambun, said many are now questioning the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Nazri Aziz’s statement as to why businessman Michael Chia “contributed” a whopping RM40 million to Sabah Umno.
Nazri yesterday said that Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail had found “no elements of corruption” from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) probe on Musa regarding the RM40 million, which Chia was caught with red-handed in Hong Kong in 2008 as he was about to fly to Malaysia.

No proof of graft on Musa, says Nazri

The minister adds that the Hong Kong authorities
had also decided against taking any action
against the Sabah chief minister.
KUALA LUMPUR: Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman has been cleared of allegations of laundering money purportedly linked to Umno.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Nazri Aziz said the Attorney-General (Abdul Gani Patail) found “no elements of corruption” from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) probe on the Umno leader.
He said the money was only a “contribution” to the party’s Sabah chapter.
“It is not for the private use of the the chief minister,” he said in a written reply to Batu MP Tian Chua at Parliament today.

Survey a ploy to discredit Musa, claims Salleh

Sabah Legislative Assembly Speaker, Salleh Said Keruak
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Umno deputy chief Salleh Said Keruak today hit out at a survey on Sabah which he claimed was the work of certain people who want to discredit Chief Minister Musa Aman and see him toppled.
He said that the poll was commissioned by those with an agenda and was aimed at demoralising Musa and the Barisan Nasional machinery.
Salleh was commenting on an online news report which claimed that voter satisfaction of Musa in the state has dropped significantly.
The report quoted the survey carried out by the Merdeka Centre for Opinion Research. According to the poll, voter satisfaction towards the chief minister had nose-dived from 60% in November 2009 to 45% in September 2012.

Musa’s virtues versus vices

Right now, Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman is
'working his magic' at all levels of politics.
In Sabah, the coming 13th general election will be known as the Musa Aman versus Musa Aman election.

These days, Musa’s pluses and minuses are the only talking points.

But Musa being the experienced and cunning election strategist he is, has written the role for himself.

He knows that he is smack in the centre of the war zone and is now selling his own virtues and, mind you, has already won over his party and captured the minds of Umno leaders in Kuala Lumpur and the prime minister himself.

Musa on radar of Swiss money-laundering probe

Swiss bank UBS is being investigated in connection
with its relationship with Musa Aman.
KOTA KINABALU: A Swiss investigations into a money-laundering trail with its roots in the rainforests of Sabah is threatening to embarrass Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak and his Barisan Nasional coalition government.

Najib who is on a two-day visit to Sabah to bring a fractious state Umno headed by Chief Minister Musa Aman into line ahead of general election, is faced with discomforting international exposure that his government is corrupt to the core.

The timing of Swiss investigations into links between UBS, Switzerland’s biggest bank, and the proceeds from illegal logging in Sabah couldn’t be worse for the premier who is hoping to mollify the state which has increasingly shown signs that it is swinging over to the opposition.

Musa remains our leader, says Umno man

By Luke Rintod of FMT
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Umno has brushed off claims of a shake-up in the party and that its strongman Musa Aman could well be on the way out ahead of the crucial general election.

Senior Sabah Umno leader, Masidi Manjun, quickly dismissed the news report in FMT as mere rumour, claiming even Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak was impressed by Musa’s performance, both as Umno head and chief minister.

Is Musa on his way out?

Rumours are rife that Najib Tun Razak will soon give
the nod for Musa Aman to be replaced by an interim CM.
KOTA KINABALU: Increasingly embattled Umno may be forced to do a rescue reshuffle of the party hierarchy in Sabah in the hope of retaining its political hold on the state.

Reliable party insiders here said the reshuffle would involve no less than the top posts in Sabah Umno and the state government – both currently held by Musa Aman.

Musa’s leadership is being openly challenged by his own colleagues.

Najib fears backlash from Musa, Taib

Najib Tun Razak is worried that acting against
Musa Aman and Taib Mahmud will open a Pandora
box on Umno and BN's abuses.
By Calvin KabaronKOTA KINABALU: Any right-thinking Malaysians must now be asking why Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak is so reluctant to act against the chief ministers of Sabah and Sarawak, considering that both allegedly face overwhelming evidences of corruption and possible abuses of power.

Both Musa Aman of Sabah and the long-serving Taib Mahmud of Sarawak are reputedly the richest among 13 chief ministers in Malaysia, having reportedly stashed away billions and still actively accumulating wealth and properties both domestic and abroad.

BN rep urges Musa govt to fulfil promises

Ranau has had a string of elected representatives
at state and federal levels over the past 40
years but clean water has remained elusive.
KOTA KINABALU: A Barisan Nasional MP from Sabah has joined the chorus of criticism against the state government led by Chief Minister Musa Aman for failing to provide piped water to scores of villages in the interior of the state.

Ranau MP Siringan Gubat said villagers in his constituency have been relying on dirty water for their domestic use.

Speaking after a protest last week by some 60-odd villagers, Gubat said: “The people are relying on the water supply from the state-owned agency Rural Development Corporation (KPD) which is only meant for farming. This water is not fit for human consumption.”

Money-laundering: Musa under pressure

What portion of the S$38 trillion transacted and transferred
across several countries belonged to Sabah?
By Calvin Kabaron
KUALA LUMPUR : As Malaysia faces a looming general election, Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman, an important ally of embattled Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak, is increasingly being engulfed with questions of integrity and leadership issues.
Musa already lost two Members of Parliament from Sabah last week, and now the ongoing investigations on his own involvement in allegedly money-laundering activities are increasingly affecting his integrity and performance as leader of the poverty-stricken Sabah.
Observers both in Kota Kinabalu and here are of the opinion that the embattled Sabah kingpin would have no avenue to redeem his reputation as more in Sabah are joining the opposition and that incriminating data on the money laundering kept pouring out in websites, blogs and leaflets.
The parallel investigations going on in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Switzerland on the money-laundering case have proven to be too much to Musa and the state leadership.

Skandal Penyelewengan Wang HSBC – Masa Untuk Menjalankan Siasatan Ke Atas Salahlaku Musa Aman!

Musa: Ask me, I am innocent

Musa Aman's outburst in the State Legislative Assembly has got observers believing that he told the truth when he said the US$100 million in Zurich was Umno's.

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman lost his cool during the State Legislative Assembly sitting yesterday and his outburst may have put Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak in a spot over allegations of money laundering involving a Swiss bank.
Responding to Luyang assemblywoman Melania Chia’s queries regarding the alleged hundreds of million of ringgits in his Swiss bank accounts, Musa said: ” You can ask me… you can even repeat it outside the house. I won’t sue you because I am not worried at all.
