Waytha Moorthy and Others Who Sell Out the Interests of Their Ethnic Community to Seek Power and Position Will Be Spurned by the People

Hindraf’s leadership headed by Waytha Moorthy and N. Ganesan signed off a Memorandum of Understanding entitled “Hindraf-Barisan Nasional (BN) Five-Year Blueprint” (hereinafter referred as “MoU”) with BN ruling clique headed by Najib Razak on 18 Apr. The following is a 4-point statement issued by Sahabat Rakyat Johore Working Committee with regard to this issue:

1. The signing of the MoU is obviously a “political deal” of “Najib – I help you, you help me” between BN ruling clique and Hindraf’s leadership — In fact, “cooperation” in the MoU refers to Najib’s commitment of continuing to assist the Indian ethnic community in participating mainstream development while Waytha Moorthy urged the Indian ethnic community to support BN in the 13th General Election (GE13), helping BN to retain its two-thirds Parliamentary majority. The cooperation between both parties was merely founded on Najib’s promise to Waytha Moorthy that the four points will be realized, i.e. the upliftment of displaced estate workers, resolving the issue of statelessness, the provision of education and business opportunities.

We all know well that the Indian ethnic community in Malaysia, like other minority communities, after enduring the rule of the British colonial government for over 50 years, continues to suffer under the rule of UMNO-dominated Alliance and the present BN governments for another upwards of 50 years. Hindraf has been leading the Indian community since 2007 to accuse the British colonial government and the ruling clique in our country of being marginalised, and demand for a change. It has been 5 years since then and the Najib-led BN ruling clique has never made any real reform of its racist policy and economic, culture, education and social system. Indian community and other minority groups are still being marginalised further.

While the BN ruling clique is on the verge of collapsing, and is to be overwhelmed by people power after reformation, Waytha Moorthy and N. Ganesan had chosen to sign the abovementioned MoU with Najib just two days before the nomination day of GE13, urging the Indian community to render their support to BN to continue their rule. Both Waytha Moorthy and N. Ganesan are trying to acquire power and position and other personal interests by exploiting the Indian votes. In fact, this contradicts the aspiration and action of the Indian ethnic community and other ethnic communities who are trying to dump UMNO-BN.

2. Hindraf’s grass-roots cadres should not allow their leaders or anyone to neglect and abandon their “core demands” in exchange for their personal interests, power and position — While Waytha Moorthy was in exile, he presented a report entitled “Institutional Racism and Religious Freedom in Malaysia” to the people and governments at home and abroad, in his capacity as the leader of the Human Rights Foundation Malaysia (in fact he is representing Hindraf). Hindraf has also launched a global electronic petition，demanding the Malaysian Government to repeal Article 153 of the Federal Constitution, all racist policies and legal provisions, and to treat all people equally.

Waytha Moorthy, after returning to the homeland on 1 Aug 2012, had organized road shows across the country, calling upon the BN government to repeal Article 153 of the Federal Constitution, as the concrete assertion of the core demands (the most fundamental demands) of Hindraf’s struggle. In short, Hindraf fights for the rights and dignity of the marginalised Indian poor. The core demands of Hindraf’s struggle are: Abolish the oppression of institutionalized racism, fight for freedom of religion and repeal Article 153 of the Federal Constitution. In fact, Hindraf’s action signifies that the Indian community has put forward its demands for equality on behalf of all ethnic communities as an urgent agenda.

It is the doomsday of Najib and the BN hegemonistic rule if the justified, legitimate and appropriate action carries on. Therefore, the broad grass-root cadres of Hindraf, should not allow Waytha Moorthy and N. Ganesan or anyone, to neglect and abandon the “core demands” in exchange for their power, position and personal interests. They should stop them from misleading the Indian community to support the UMNO-BN ruling clique. They should stand together with people of all ethnic communities, democratic parties and organizations instead, to dump the UMNO-BN ruling clique into the dustbin of history.

3. Waytha Moorthy and N. Ganesan betray the interests of the Indian community and act as accomplices of the ruling clique to split the people of various ethnic groups —Waytha Moorthy and N. Ganesan urge the Indian voters to support BN to seize two-thirds Parliamentary majority in the forthcoming general election at the MoU signing event. They not only put aside and abandoned Hindraf’s “core demands” but also disregard the situation of the Indian community, who are being oppressed. At this critical moment, both of them defected and accepted the “enlistment” by the BN ruling clique, and attempted to degenerate Hindraf into a tool of the BN ruling clique to split the people’s unity.

Both of them fished the votes on behalf of BN openly and flagrantly. Their behavior makes no difference from the upper echelon of other BN component parties such as MIC and PPP. They deceived the Indian populations to believe in BN’s promises again, driving the Indian ethnic group to continue accepting BN’s racist hegemonistic rule.  In order to seek position and personal interests, they ruined the golden opportunity of solidarity between the Indian community with the other communities to dump BN into the dustbin of history. Waytha Moorthy and N. Ganesan have sold out the interests of their community. Furthermore, they have become the accomplices of the BN ruling clique and are trying to throw people of all the ethnic groups into disarray.

4.  Waytha Moorthy and N. Ganesan or other leaders have become traitors to the oppressed Indian community and go against the will of the people from all ethnic groups will be spurned —In the past, the Hindraf leaders including Waytha Moorthy and N. Ganesan, kept on saying that institutionalised racism ruling by the UMNO-dominated Perikatan and present BN government is the root cause of the enduring oppressed, discriminated and marginalized suffering of Indian, Chinese and other ethnic minorities in our country. However, they have now chosen to stand against the people of all ethnic communities.

One who betrays his own community will always be spurned by people. There will be no exception for Waytha Moorthy and N. Ganesan or other leaders who follow their path. They will certainly be spurned by the grassroots of Hindraf, broad Indian masses and the populace. We are willing to act in unison with the Indian community and people of the whole nation: Any democratic reform can only be brought about when various communities of any class, political party or religion do not entertain any illusion about the deceptive transformation programs of the BN/UMNO clique (including BN’s main component parties) indulging in hegemonic rule. They must not harbour any illusion about the upper echelon of BN component parties’ intention to safeguard the interests of the various communities.

Waytha Moorthy dan Pemimpin Lain Pasti Disingkir oleh Rakyat

kerana Mengkhianati Masyarakat India demi Kepentingan Perseorangan

Pada 18hb April 2013, pucuk pimpinan HINDRAF yang diketuai oleh Waytha Moorthy dan N. Ganesan telah menandatangani sebuah memorandum persefahaman yang digelar “Pelan Tindakan Lima Tahun Hindraf – BN untuk Masyarakat India” ( “Memorandum” ) dengan klik pemerintahan Barisan Nasional (BN) yang diketuai oleh Najib. mengenai perkembangan ini, Sahabat Rakyat Johor Working Committee ingin mengemukakan sebuah kenyataan seperti di berikut:

1.         Memorandum itu merupakan satu jualbeli politik “I help you, you help me” antara klik pemerintahan BN dan pucuk pemimpin HINDRAF

Berdasarkan kerjasama yang disebut dalam Memorandum, Najib berjanji akan meneruskan usaha melibatkan masyarakat India dalam pembangunan negara selepas PRU 13. Waytha Moorthy menggesa masyarakat India mengberi sokongan kepada BN dalam pilihanraya ini agar membolehkan BN mendapat majoriti dua pertiga dalam parlimen. Hubungan kerjasama kedua-dua pihak itu hanya berasaskan perjanjian Najib dengan Waytha Moorthy dalam empat bidang sahaja, iaitu meningkatkan taraf kehidupan pekerja ladang yang tersesar, menyelesaikan isu kewarganegaraan, dan peluang pendidikan dan perniagaan.

Pada hakikatnya, nasib masyarakat India serupa dengan kaum minoriti yang lain dalam negara ini. Setelah diperintah oleh penjajah British selama melebihi 50 tahun, mereka telah mengalami pemerintahan kerajaan Perikatan dan seterusnya kerajaan BN selama lebih daripada 50 tahun. Pada tahun 2007, HINDRAF telah memimpin masyarakat India dalam melaungkan kemarahan mereka terhadap kerajaan penjajah British dan klik pemerintahan negara ini, supaya dilema masyarakat India terpinggir dapat diatasi. Sejak demonstrasi itu, selama lima tahun, termasuk PRU 12, telah berlalu. Dalam tempoh 5 tahun itu, klik pemerintahan BN tidak pernah mengambil sebarang langkah reformasi yang serius dan berkesan terhadap sistem politik, ekonomi, kebudayaan, pendidikan dan sosial. Selama ini, mereka yang berfahaman perkauman selama ini meminggirkan masyarakat India dan kaum minoriti yang lain.

Kebelakangan ini, hentaman gelombang reformasi rakyat pelbagai kaum yang menuntut reformasi telah menggugat kedudukan klik pemerintahan BN. Namun, dua hari sebelum hari penamaan calon PRU 13, Waytha Moorthy dan N. Ganesan telah menandatangani Memorandum dengan Najib. Mereka menyeru agar rakyat masyarakat India menyokong BN untuk meneruskan pemerintahannya. Mereka berniat “menjualkan” pengundi-pengundi kaum India kepada Najib dan klik pemerintahan BN demi memperolehi jawatan dan kuasa serta kepentingan individu. Ternyatalah niat tersebut bercanggah dengan aspirasi dan tindakan rakyat jelata untuk menggulingkan UMNO-BN.

2.         Akar Umbi dan Kader HINDRAF tidak harus membenarkan pemimpin mereka mengetepikan dan menggugurkan “Tuntutan Teras” demi kepentingan perseorangan

Semasa terpaksa meninggalkin negeri, Waytha Moorthy atas nama pemimpin The Human Rights Foundation Malaysia (yang sebenarmya mewakili HINDRAF) pernah mengumumkan sebuah laporan yang bertajuk“Kebebasan Keagamaan dan Institusionalisasi Perkauman Di Malaysia” (Institutional Racism and Religious freedom in Malaysia). HINDRAF juga pernah melancarkan e-petisyen sedunia, yang menuntut kerajaan Malaysia agar memansuhkan Artikel 153 dalam Perlembagaan Persekutuan, dan memansuhkan segala dasar dan perkara perundangan yang berbau perkauman, di samping itu melayan semua rakyat secara sama rata. Selepas Waytha Moorthy kembali ke tanah air pada 1 Ogos 2012, dia menitikberatkan pendirian konkrit itu secara terbuka di merata tempat. Boleh disimpulkan bahawa HINDRAF berjuang demi mempertahankan hak, kepentingan dan maruah masyarakat India yang miskin dan terpinggir.

Sebenarnya, tindakan HINDRAF telah menunjukkan bahawa masyarakat India telah menjadikan tuntutan kesamarataan hak rakyat pelbagai kaum seluruh negara sebagai agenda perbincangan nasional. Jika tindakan tersebut yang adil, munasabah, dan sah dari segi undang-undang berterusan, maka itulah masa berakhirnya pemerintahan Najib dan hegemoni UMNO. Oleh yang demikian, akar umbi dan kader HINDRAF tidak harus membenarkan Waytha Moorthy, N. Ganesan atau sesiapa pun mengetepikan dan menggugurkan “Tuntutan Teras” demi mendapatkan jawatan dan kepentingan individu. Mereka tidak harus membenarkan masyarakat India ditipu untuk meyokong klik pemerintahan UMNO BN. Sebaliknya, akar umbi dan kader HINDRAF harus berpendirian bersama-sama rakyat pelbagai kaum, parti-parti dan pertubuhan demokratik, agar klik pemerintahan UMNO BN dapat ditongsampahkan.

3.         Waytha Moorthy dan N. Ganesan telah berdosa kerana mengkhianati masyarakat India dan menjadi rakan sejenayah kepada klik pemerintahan dalam memecahkan perpaduan rakyat pelbagai kaum

Dalam majlis  tandatangan Memorandum itu, Waytha Moorthy dan N. Ganesan menyeru kepada pengundi masyarakat India supaya menyokong BN dalam PRU 13 unyuk membolehkan BN mencapai kerusi majoriti dua pertiga di parlimen. Dengan itu, Waytha Moorthy dan N. Ganesan mengkhianati masyarakat India sebagai golongan tertindas. Pada masa genting ini, mereka “menerima pengampunan dan berlutut” kepada klik pemerintahan BN. Niat mereka adalah mengubahkan ciri HINDRAF. Mereka menjadikan HINDRAF sebagai alat kepada klik pemerintahan BN untuk memecah-belahkan perpaduan rakyat.

Mereka memancing undi berterang-terang untuk BN. Dengan itu, Waytha Moorthy dan N. Ganesan tidak berbezanya dengan pemimpin-pemimpin parti-parti komponen BN seperti MIC dan PPP yang menipu masyarakat India agar mempercayai janji BN lagi. Tindakan mereka sebenarnya mendorong masyarakat India terus menerima pemerintahan hegemoni perkauman BN. Demi kepentingan perseorangan, mereka telah menghancurkan peluang penting untuk masyarakat India bersatupadu dengan kaum-kaum yang lain dalam usaha menumbangkan klik pemerintahan UMNO BN. Mereka bukan sahaja berdosa kerana mengkhianati masyarakat India, malah berperanan sebagai rakan sejenayah kepada klik pemerintahan BN dalam memecah-belahkan perpaduan rakyat pelbagai kaum.

4)         Waytha Moorthy dan N. Ganesan atau Pemimpin lain-lain pasti akan dikeji kerana membelot daripada  pendirian HINDRAF dan sebaliknya berpendirian menentang rakyat pelbagai kaum seluruh negara.

Sebelum ini, para pemimpin HINDRAF, terutamanya Waytha Moorthy dan N. Ganesan, telah berpendapat bahawa pemerintahan kerajaan Perikatan, dan kdmudiannya kerajaan BN, yang didominasi UMNO berasaskan institusionalisasi perkauman selama 56 tahun ini, merupakan punca akar kepada dilema masyarakat Cina, India dan kaum minoriti lain-lain yang ditindas, didiskriminasi dan dipinggir. Namun, mereka telah mengambil pendirian menentang rakyat pelbagai kaum sekarang.

Menurut sejarah, sesiapa sahaja yang membelot kepentingan kaum dan masyarakat sudah barang tentu akan disingkir oleh rakyat. Oleh itu, Waytha Moorthy, N. Ganesan atau para pemimpin lain-lain yang akan sehaluan dengan mereka tidak akan dikecualikan, tetap akan disingkir oleh akar umbi HINDRAF, rakyat jelata masyarakat India dan pelbagai kaum. Hanya dengan  menyingkirkan khayalan terhadap program transformasi yang diwar-warkan oleh klik hegemoni UMNO, dan menyingkirkan khayalan bahawa pemimpin atasan parti-parti komponen BN akan membela hak dan kepentingan kaum masing-masing, serta mencapai perpaduan kalangan rakyat semua kaum tanpa mengira kelas, aliran parti politik dan agama, baharulah aspirasi untuk pengubahan demokratik negara kita dapat dilaksanakan.

瓦达慕迪等人谋取权位官职

出卖族群利益必遭人民唾弃

柔佛州人民之友工委会2013年4月24日声明

4月18日，以瓦达慕迪、甘尼申为首的兴权会领导与以纳吉为首的国阵统治集团签署一份名为《兴权会—国阵5年印裔族群蓝图》备忘录（以下简称“备忘录”）。柔佛州人民之友工委会针对相关事件发表四点声明如下：

一、      备忘录的签署显然就是国阵统治集团与兴权会领导之间进行一项“纳吉——我帮你，你帮我”的"政治交易"——备忘录所指的双方合作，就是纳吉承诺在大选后继续协助印裔族群参与主流发展，瓦达穆迪则呼吁印裔族群在第13届大选支持国阵，协助国阵夺取国会2/3议席；双方的合作关系，也只是建立在纳吉答应瓦达慕迪做到以下四点，即协助流离失所的园丘工人、解决无国籍课题、教育机会与商业机会。众所周知，国内印裔族群跟其他少数民族一样，遭受英国殖民政府的统治超过50年之后，再遭受巫统主导的联盟与国阵集团统治迄今又是超过50年。兴权会在2007年领导国内印裔族群向英国殖民政府和国内统治集团发出了要求改变被边缘化困境的怒吼之后，经历第12届大选迄今也有5年了。这5年来，纳吉主导的国阵统治集团不曾对长期以来边缘化印裔族群以及其他少数民族的种族主义的政治、经济、文化、教育与社会制度作出任何实质改革。国阵统治集团面对各族人民奋起要求改革浪潮的冲击，濒临崩溃瓦解之际，瓦达穆迪与甘尼申却选择在本届大选提名日两天前，跟纳吉签署上述备忘录，号召印裔族群支持国阵继续执政。瓦达穆迪与甘尼申企图利用印裔选民手中的选票，向纳吉和国阵统治集团换取他们的官职权位和个人利益，根本就是跟广大印裔族群以及其他各族人民要求抛弃巫统国阵的愿望和行动相对抗。

二、      兴权会基层干部不应容许他们的领袖或任何人为了谋取权位官职和个人利益，忽略和放弃“核心诉求”——瓦达慕迪流亡国外期间曾以马来西亚人权基金( The Human Rights Foundation Malaysia)领导人的身份（实际上代表兴权会）向国内外发表的《马来西亚的制度性种族主义和宗教自由》报告；兴权会也曾展开了一项全球电子请愿，要求马来西亚政府废除《联邦宪法》153条文、废除所有种族主义政策和法律条文，并平等对待所有人民。瓦达慕迪在2012年8月1日回国之后奔走各地公开呼吁国阵政府撤销《联邦宪法》第153条文，作为兴权会斗争的核心诉求（最根本的诉求）的具体主张。总之，兴权会就是为了维护被边缘化的贫困印裔族群的权益和尊严而斗争，兴权会斗争的“核心诉求”就是：废除制度性种族主义压迫、争取宗教自由，以及撤销《联邦宪法》第153条文。实际上兴权会的行动标志着印裔族群已将全国各族人民要求平等权利的诉求，提到议事日程上来。这项合情合理合法的正义行动继续发展下去，就是纳吉和巫统霸权统治末日到来的时候。因此，兴权会的广大基层干部，不应容许瓦达慕迪和甘尼申或任何人，为了谋取权位官职和个人利益，忽略和放弃“核心诉求”，并误导印裔族群去支持巫统国阵集团，理应跟各族人民和民主党团站在一起，把巫统国阵统治集团抛弃到历史垃圾堆里。

三、      瓦达慕迪与甘尼申已经沦为背叛印裔族群利益的罪人和统治集团分裂各族人民团结的帮凶——瓦达慕迪和甘尼申，不仅忽略和放弃“核心诉求”而且还背叛印裔族群作为被压迫者反抗压迫者的立场，在签署备忘录仪式上号召印裔族群（选民）在本届大选支持国阵，协助国阵夺取国会2/3议席。瓦达慕迪与甘尼申在关键时刻，接受国阵统治集团的“招安”，并且企图把兴权会变质成为国阵统治集团分裂人民团结的工具。他们明目张胆为国阵捞取选票，和其他国阵成员党诸如印度国大党、人民进步党等等领导已经毫无差别，欺骗印裔族群再次相信国阵的承诺，实际上是驱使印裔族群继续接受国阵种族主义的霸权统治。他们为了谋取权位官职和个人利益，一举断送印裔族群和其他民族在这次大选中联合起来把国阵抛弃到历史的垃圾堆里的重要机会。他们不但沦为背叛印裔族群利益的罪人，而且也沦为国阵统治集团分裂各族人民团结的帮凶。

四、      瓦达慕迪和甘尼申或其他领袖，背叛兴权会作为被压迫者反抗压迫者的立场，采取与全国各族人民对立的立场，必遭唾弃——兴权会领导人，瓦达慕迪或者是甘尼，他们过去口口声声都说，巫统主导的联盟政府和国阵政府56年来所实施的制度性种族主义统治就是造成我国印裔、华裔族群以及其他少数民族长期处在被压迫、被歧视、被边缘化困境的根源。他们现在却选择站在各族人民的对立面去了。古往今来，出卖族群利益的人没有不被人民唾弃，瓦达穆迪和甘尼申或者可能步他们的后尘的其他领导人也不会例外，必定遭到兴权会基层群众、广大印裔以及各族人民群众的唾弃。我们愿与印裔以及全国人民共勉：只有抛弃对巫统霸权集团所鼓吹的转型计划的幻想，只有抛弃由国阵各成员党上层人物为其族群争取权益的幻想，只有各族人民，不分阶级、不分党派、不分宗教，团结起来，把巫统和国阵（包括其主要成员党）抛弃到历史的垃圾堆中去，民主改革愿望才有可能实现。
