KOTA KINABALU: BERSIH Sabah has the full support of DBKK and the KK PDRM to gather at Padang Merdeka on April 28th. A successful meeting were made today, April 24, with the KK PDRM and DBKK representatives at Karamunsing Police Station.

A team of seven from BERSIH Sabah and Himpunan Hijau was met with about 30 representatives from the police and DBKK at 3p.m. today to discuss about the planned gathering on the 28th of April. The meeting was chaired by the Head of Police Kota Kinabalu, ACP Ahmad Sofi bin Zakaria.

A representative of DBKK informed BERSIH Sabah that they are planning a public programme this Saturday, 28th April on positive messaging such as, “Say No To Drugs”. When asked whether BERSIH Sabah and its supporters could attend the programme, DBKK affirmed so, and welcomes the public.

BERSIH Sabah also asked about any dress-code planned for the DBKK event, and was informed that there was none, and that there are no dress code restrictions for public participation.

BERSIH Sabah endorses the event planned by DBKK, and will show support by attending the event in Padang Merdeka. BERSIH Sabah also welcomes all our supporters to join us in endorsing this event, and to wear the colours yellow and green.

DBKK has accepted the offer by BERSIH Sabah and Himpunan Hijau to carry out “gotong-royong” after the event, as to ensure the place is cleaned. BERSIH Sabah has also offered to promote the DBKK awareness campaign this Saturday, April 28th, and has offered to provide input in their programme, such as Sabahan indigenous dance performances.

BERSIH Sabah would also like to thank the KK PDRM and DBKK for their full cooperation and support, and together, for leading the way for rest of Malaysian authorities to emulate, ensuring that our constitutional right as per Article 10, to assemble peacefully.

The Sabah authorities have been exemplary in their cooperation, and BERSIH Sabah commends KK PDRM and DBKK for their integrity and support.

BERSIH Sabah will continue to work together with KK PDRM and DBKK for a peaceful gathering on April 28th, 2012.

BERSIH Sabah hopes to see thousands of Sabahans this Saturday, joining us for the call for free and fair elections.
